Someone I know said that my gender is Jew

I am wondering if in your work you have engaged with the ways in which the one-sex model that was operative in the pre-Enlightenment world impacts our understanding of Rabbinic understandings of the body. I have found that teaching students about the differences between the one-sex and two-sex model helps in breaking down the focus on gender binaries. The one-sex model is still working under a gender kyriarchy but allows for the acknowledgment that gender is a performance that supports Butlers work.

The need to reclaim lost Jewish souls post Holocaust has cemented our need for gender binaries and female/male coupling in a way that is extra oppressive.
