Re: using leaves as source of aluminum for mordants-- many traditional cultures burn the leaves and then use the ash in water-- which would be the aluminum component..

High lightfastness and performance dyes: indigo, weld, cochineal, madder, pomegranate. Proper mordanting provides better performance. Protein fibers will have better light and washfastness than cellulose fibers.
