Foley Institute at WSU sponsored a Prof who reported research on a rural WA community that has many urbanites moving in and the dynamics of the two groups.

Rush used to be on every station, when driving through Montana, and North Dakota to Minneapolis. Few left-leaning or even middle road stations.

Same for me out of Indiana.

Yep! And a few other factors like poll expungements & voting accessibility.

Democrats tend to pack themselves into dense areas, so those areas are more heavily tilted towards Dems, but there are fewer of them.

Gerrymandering adds to the scales becoming unbalanced.

If Roe Vs. Wade is overturned, there will probably be more people from red states moving into the blue states. Spokane is expecting Idahoans coming over to use our medical services like the did when we had a lot of Covid.

@David: maybe still fewer actual districts - because many Trump districts still have a sizable number of Democrats/Clinton voters who nonetheless are a bit outnumbered within their district. Especially if those districts were intentionally gerrymandered to maximize the number of R districts.

We need more teamwork between city Democrats and rural Democrats. I grew up as a city Democrat, but there are so many issues that impact rural areas that I wasn't aware of until I moved to a rural area. Dems can't fight against rural areas because they're generally more conservative, we need to work with rural Democrat stakeholders to incorporate rural solutions too. 😁

@matthew: I think I see what you mean. So the Trump districts are just barely Trump. But the Clinton districts and overwhelmingly Clinton. That allows the "more people for Clinton" and the "more districts for Trump". To get the "more people in districts for Trump", we need to have the Trump districts have greater population (in total) than the Clinton districts. I think visually--I'd like to see this with red and blue dots with lines to make the districts.

Just because whites may no longer be in the majority doesn't mean that people will be more progressive or Democratic. Many of these groups are moving conservative including Asian and Hispanic.
