I can hear my mother's voice saying "You don't have any choice about what happens to you. Your only choice is how you deal with it."

In response to his younger system complaining about all the politics in her workplace, Doug said 'politics is just human nature.' I hear that often during my own work experiences.

Whenever I'd complain about something unfair in the world (or I hear complaints now) I hear two voices. My mom would always say "Whoever told you life was fair?" which always reminded me that … no one had ever said that. And my dad would always listen to my complaints and then he would say "Fine - now what are you going to do about it?" Together they gave me a vision of a world that isn't fair, but that's not the thing to discuss - the thing to discuss is how to improve it.

advice i was given: if you want something in life, ask. if you don’t you will have a 100% chance the answer will be no, but if you ask it goes down to 50%,

That last quote by Jordan reminded me of a quote by Wayne Gretzky a famous NHL player. "you miss 100% of the shots you don"t take"

A question about the Christmas Quilt CD or DVD — is there a way we could buy a download instead? I’d be delighted if I could do that; my computer doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive.
