I loved Rebecca showing the Job Care Folks about the stereotypes of older people...using a walker, the frail elderly.

Happy Birthday, Rebecca! You don’t look any older than in the movie. Will the film be available to the public? I have family and many friends who would love it - and you!
Maggie Joan @3rdagers
02:13:26
I'm a single woman with no children and I was 42 years old when I first experienced age discrimination and, at that point, I decided I needed to work for myself.
Rebecca Mellinger
02:13:32

02:14:28
even questions in a performance review demonstrate ageism....."what was your greatest challenge and how did you deal with it?" Not the same when one has developed skills over so many years....it's not about a challenge its'just something to deal with
Sri Tencate
02:14:46
This documentary should be shared with and showed to employers and employee unions in reference to age discrimination despite qualifications and experience.
Donna Tarzian
02:14:51
So true Rebecca. Ageism is a cruel mindset that slowly chips away one’s self-worth.
Kelly McDonough Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging
02:14:56
strong women modeling for strong women

02:15:11
Absolutely Sri.

02:15:12
Exactly @Sri
Katherine Tam (she/her/hers)
02:15:16
I know. I am part of a team helping people book their vaccine appointments. The web/UX design on those websites are daunting...even for a digital native like me. It shouldn't be so difficult.
Ellen Sideri
02:15:16
As Sian says having an advocate is so important, and so many of women /men who are older, wtihout children and family.
Sri Tencate
02:15:44
Thanks, Kyle and Tobi.
Tobi Elkin
02:15:44
It should be required viewing for recruiters and millennials
Sri Tencate
02:15:57
Yes!
Cindi
02:16:12
@Tobi Elkins YES!!
Cat Shi
02:16:30
@Katherine Tam such a great point about vaccine booking!!
Donna Tarzian
02:16:34
How might we flip the ageism mindset?
Francesca Vollaro
02:16:40
Hi Marci! I am well although in tears over this movie and story. We will have to catch up soon.
Diane Tilstra
02:17:08
Yes, if we really feel that age is just a number then why are we arbitrarily choosing 65 as a cutoff. I am 74 and work as Operations Manager for Tacoma Refugee Choir. I am planning an event now for 500+ attendees for a Drive-In Singing Concert! The division of age is unfair and undermines the value of aging.
Sri Tencate
02:17:22
Age and racial discrimination still widely exist to this day.
Millie Burns
02:18:04
Will there be a recording of this Q&A?
Tobi Elkin
02:18:10
Amen Sian-Pierre!
Jun Yung
02:18:14
Hi Millie, yes there will be!
Cathleen
02:18:19
Can you share with us the story of the person behind the film’s dedication.
Helen V S
02:18:22
I am 79 and taught my self using a computer and I am very independent. I help my children and treat them equally. And thank them often for their help.
Tobi Elkin
02:18:24
Standing in your truth!
Teri Graham
02:18:40
One of the things I hate most about aging is the invisibility. You're pushed aside and seen as lacking value and that's just not true. We still have a lot to offer starting with life experience
Donna West
02:19:01
It is personal stories like this that is changing our history now. It is about us and continuing the next stage of life. It is amazing to continue.
Tracie
02:19:42
How is Gabriel doing?
Philip Reimer
02:19:44
Is Rebecca's hotel job in NYC or Boston?
Sri Tencate
02:19:46
Do not under-estimate "mature grown-ups."

Arlene Wanetick
02:20:50
How can we share this post-film conversation? As rich and important as the film.
Lynn- MI
02:21:26
I can attest to age & racial discrimination. At 59, I was laid off & was not able to find a job for 8 yrs. I will be 70 in a few mos and I feel fortunate I was able to get a small part-time job; as social security does not pay the bills. Many Seniors are in this situation. What is the answer to survival?
Cat Shi
02:21:31
@Arlene - we are recording it and can share!
Donna West
02:21:35
I am single and working woman age 65 now. It is amazing the center of tech and innovation is not equipped to have the tools to support all people. Yet we are living longer.
Missy she+her
02:21:50
aw.... can't hear her
marci alboher (she / hers)
02:21:50
We talk all the time about asset-framing around older people and THIS is it. Sian-Pierre you are modeling this so beautifully!!
Helen V S
02:21:59
+No it is about him, we all have a lot to learn from him, He gave so much, while all she did was take from him
Tanja Aldridge
02:22:20
You both are blessed to have each other.
Diane Tilstra
02:22:22
Yes, Social Security is only a cushion not capable of fully supporting costs of living.
Damon Oldcorn
02:22:23
Just like the WASPI campaign in the UK where the 1950s women who have had their pensions postponed for 5 years with limited notice or communication. A number never expecting to have to return to work many with no support and few Government benefits..
Diane Tilstra
02:23:33
Tacoma General Hospital has a nurse that worked well into her 90’s. Great story.
Hugh Weinberg
02:23:51

Glad you didn’t change the title
iphone
02:26:16
The title is perfect
Arlene Wanetick
02:26:30
I got another meaning from the title—some might say it’s a child’s duty to help care for/anut a parent—but this was done out of choice an love

I hope my son and I have a relationship like the one you two have!
