You state "user friendly" on the NOR. Who do you consider the user?

22:39
on the code of conduct - per RRS it is ALSO their parents, if they show up at a regatta. That has been my biggest problem since, oh, 1967.

28:09
Todd, thank you for your insight. Indeed there are two primary users: 1. Sailors and 2. Parents and we hope that the updated Code will well serve both constituents.

Welcome everyone! We're glad to have you here. Please introduce yourself in this chat, with your name and club/program.

Hi everyone, I'm Mike Ances and I'm the Director of Junior Sailing at Indian Harbor Yacht Club

45:37
I bet the INSTRUCTORS really enjoyed that!!!!

46:36
Hi all, I'm Bob Whittredge, Exec Dir at JSA of LIS

47:37
Hi, I’m Barbara Minadeo - parent of a sailor at MBYC

48:11
Hi Everyone. I’m Marianna Erenhouse. Jr Sailing Chair at Milford Yacht Club. We really restricted parents from the MYC program last year as well as having all of our first year sailors sail alone without a buddy or JI from day 1 and had great success that. Promoting independence was a very positive move.

Dave Smith, Member of Pequot Jr. Sailing Committee, PRO for Pequot Opti Rumble (Lord help me)

Natasha Austin, Member of Seawanhaka Junior Sailing Committee, Opti mom, Member of the Race Committee for NY State Opti Champs.

Hi folks, Todd Field, Sagamore Junior Sailing Program Manager for a little while longer. Won my first 1st place in 1962. Moved from LI to New London, so I'll be moving out of this group next year, after being active for … oh … many years. Been a sailor (losing to Dave Perry) in JYRALIS, head instructor at Centerport YC, raced and placed nationally and internationally and have two kids who have been through JSALIS. Looking to become involved at Niantic Bay Yacht Club.

54:06
What does anyone think the state guidelines will ber????

55:22
SJS last year - we cancelled the program because of the legal liabilities to the board of directors.

55:52
We had folks on the board who realized that they were basically wide open to lawsuits.

55:55
Andrew McFarland SIYC, a co regatta chair for our July Opti event. Last of my kids moving into 420’s this summer. Lots of good ideas to bounce of our sailing director when I next talk to him. Thanks

56:38
This year we have decided it is OK to continue, and we are almost full and looking to hire additional instructors.

57:31
We have added Lasers this year, but will be using BJ's too.

58:16
And, of course, lots of Opti's.

59:36
And 4 420's

01:08:08
Dave - I won the Neff!

01:12:27
Oh Dave, you know better than to encourage me to ask questions!

01:14:55
I showed up at my last protest committee with a copy of the NAYRU 1957 rule book.

01:29:42
Goodnight, as a parent, this is above me!! Looking forward to summer!!!

01:33:12
Clubspot is a great platfom for posting the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions -- available to view and print out at the point of regatta entry.

01:33:32
Question: You imply that the NOR and SI be readily available. If we are using TheClubSpot or YachtRacing, is posting the NOR and SI under their respective areas considered to be significat

01:37:27
Yay Tom!!!!

01:38:28
Last time I reviewed the rules for JSA, there was lots of discussion about having to repeat stuff. I applaud cutting the documents down to the minimum.

01:40:37
Couldn’t. Hear music, if there was some! Did appreciate you singing the last bit though. =-)

01:41:44
What is the definition of "Hull"

01:48:44
Oh, when can we do skiffs and flying boats in JSALIS.

01:52:15
Throw the parents out! Me and my parents (now deceased) are in agreement!!

01:53:32
JSA question: How do we get this message out to the parents?

01:59:06
I think that the past two items are the most important change to JSALIS in two decades. How is this information going to be distributed to the parents?

01:59:28
OK, the last three items.

02:05:33
RRS 1.1 question - some regattas provide safety and rescue resources… this team might be better suited to help than a well intentioned parent with medium skill set or a boat hard to operate. Do RC/Safety and Rescue have the ability to ask people to stand down? OR for some events that have powerboat waiting areas and coaching coordinators I could see some helicopter coaches/parents arguing the need to leave the waiting area because someone “looks to be in trouble”

02:07:35
Heard the last one!

02:08:27
Our junior sailors in the room are really enjoying the music intros!!

02:08:52
Hey - interesting. The boat displaying all the flags obviously did not have a US Sailing certified PRO - they did not use the gold flag.

02:10:26
Dave - can you send me more information on the "Object or Line" as an obstruction?

02:11:39
SYC has this as an issue.

02:12:23
YEAH for superpowers! A5.1

02:12:51
SUPERMAN, SPIDERMAN and the RC.

02:15:47
I suggest firing the shotgun at people who hit the RC boat!

02:27:08
One of the most influential people teaching me rules was Dick Rose. We ran frostbite protests at PWYC and it was great. All protests were open and Dick would explain to everyone what was happening.

02:28:03
Slight change - Dick ran the protests. As a kid I just listened in.
