Sorry if this is a dumb question, but for that new narrative question, is it new as of recently? To better ask, if we've already submitted ESSER 3, would we need to go back in to answer the new question?
CDE: Nazie Mohajeri-Nelson
20:37
@Klee - not a dumb question at all. We released our application prior to the USDE's release of the Interim Final Rules wherein they added this requirement of LEAs. So, we have recently added it to our application. If you have already submitted your application, you will need to go back in and answer the question.

Thank you very much!

Will the letter be sent to Superintendents around the state? I don't know we will necessarily have as much pull as the letter itself.
CDE: Nazie Mohajeri-Nelson
22:16
@Greg, we will be adding the letter to our website and will include a link to it in our communications. Thanks for your insight.

so are we now allowed to use ESSER III fund to pay incentives for vaccines?
CDE: Nazie Mohajeri-Nelson
23:46
@David, yes that is an allowable use of ESSER funds.
Scott Howard
28:14
How about incentives for parents and students that are age eligible?
Christina Easton
29:44
Is the ESSER I Carryover Application available?
CDE Niko Kaloudis
37:13
@Christina The ESSER I Carryover app is not yet available
Kristin Crumley
45:57
@Scott, Yes. An LEA may use ESSER funds to provide reasonable incentives to students, consistent with state parent or guardian medical consent laws, and their household members to get vaccinated. This is allowable because it is a strategy that aligns with CDC guidance and return to/continuation of in-person instruction.

We have been discouraged by auditors not to provide gift cards with Federal funds. How is a district able to track funds if we use gift cards?
Krista Klabo
53:57
I apologize
Andrea Pulskamp

You can use teacher/staff stipends
Mitzi Swiatkowski
55:06
How about a voucher instead of a gift card?
Jeremiah Johnson
57:47
Do we feel like we could offer hiring incentives for paraprofessionals and guest teachers through ESSER? Given that we think the low number of applicants is attributable to COVID? It is making it difficult to ensure the appropriate amount of staffing is occurring in our buildings. It seems reasonable but want to run it by your team.

I am interested in the response to this question as well

Examples and non-examples would be helpful.

And I agree w/ Mitzi, examples/non-examples would be greatly helpful :)

I think it's less about what is fun and how do we support students' sense of belonging. What about if this is supporting fees for athletics within the schooling?
Jeremiah Johnson
01:01:40
… though an afterschool program would also support a students social, emotional health.
Jeremiah Johnson
01:05:35
i think fun activities would be allowable in this case. Making school fun after the trauma of the pandemic and remote learning may be a good investment.
