I am so glad you wrote this book. I took a sabbatical years ago and worked very closely with Ellen Stovall. My work at NCCS was instrumental in developing my identity as a survivor. As a DC native, I know/recognize so many individuals in your book. It was like a walk down memory lane for me.
Thanks Monica, perfect links!
Thank you so much Monica - ordered!
Yes, Nancy. I’ve been to Act II meetings. She came right over and introduced herself.
I think that you hit the nail on the head re: survivorship being a chronic condition. Well said!
If you have not, read Dr. Fitzhugh McMullen's article "Seasons of Survival" and his book, Vital Signs. Sadly, we lost him to late effects (lung cancer) in late 2019 after about 45 years of survivorship.
Anyone else there? I was a 2 year survivor at the time. It was extremely powerful moment. I do wish we could repeat it, but don't want to sign myself up like Ellen did!
Ellen was truly one of kind. I feel blessed to have known her well.
I think we have a couple of social workers here! Cheers!
Happy National Social Workers Day!
Thank you Heather and Nancy! Proud card-carrying social worker :-)
My 92 year old grandmother once asked me if I really thought women doctors were as good as men doctors. Oh, thank goodness some things have changed.
Heather - my oncology breast surgeon and my plastic surgeon were known in the surgery center as the Dream Team. :)
Monica, Awesome name. Where did you go?
Erin Geddis Cummings
happy National Social Workers Day! Card carrying member here too…
Another card carrying social worker here too.

Social workers ROCK!! underpaid, under-appreciated, but sorely needed
Well said Erin!
Social workers are such unsung heroes. I did a year long internship as a chaplain in a hospital where social workers saved people daily with their interventions & resources.
That's how I always felt while working as a nurse for all those years.....underpaid, underappreciated, etc.
Nancy, Totally agree. Mom and sister are nurses.
Rachel, That is awesome!!! Cheers to you! I would love to chat about your Zoom group!
Heather - I’d love to chat!
Rachel-I will make sure it happens. I have wanted to chat with you for so long.
Where is this care plan
Louissa, Search under Tess Nowell's name on the FB page. She posted it a few months ago.
the plan can be found on HI website and I am so delighted to have been able to produce it! Please have a look and make use of it.
Andre, Please lean on us. We are here for you.
Andre, let’s pm each other. I see an immunologist for Mast Cell problems probably caused by my radiation, but I think chemo can contribute, as well.
Thank you Heather and Tess I will look it up.
Andre, I will keep you in my prayers
Thank you all for putting this together and looking forward to reading your book Judy.

Judith, Thank you so much for your time and your book. I have been involved in survivorship for 24 years and the book took me down memory lane, as well as motivated me to get more active again. Thank you Erin and Cathy too!
Thank you, Judy. And thanks o Erin for putting this together.
