● Stanwood Alliance For Equity is planning to discuss with the superintendent the possibility of remapping the duties of the School Resource Officer to other better suited-roles and to call-in law enforcement only as needed. This was discussed with the district equity leadership team, of which Charlotte is a part, at their last meeting. Only 15% of Washington school districts have SROs. Significant racial disparities exist in school arrests in almost all states, including Washington, according to Education Week. Do you have a position on this effort to better ensure equity in discipline and law enforcement?● Already vulnerable and at-risk students are being harmed most by Covid measures, yet the district has discontinued use of volunteers during the pandemic. Do you have a position on a call for tutors managed by the district to help vulnerable students virtually?
