Myra Berkowitz
31:44
How do you spotlight the speaker? Can this be done only in webinar?
Ilyse Wagner (she/her)
32:04
host or co-host can spotlight someone
Mordecai Miller
32:06
Considered streaming to begin with. Way beyond. Budget. At the time never considered Zoom. Eventually turned to it originally as the only alternative. Basically kept the service format identical to pre Zoom. Have had significant improvement to two daily minyanim. Also use it for daily Rashi class and other classes too. Has exceeded expectations so far.
Myra Berkowitz
32:34
HOW to spotlight, was the question, thanks.
Linda Sussman, USCJ
32:40
Anyone can be spotlighted
Ian Felgar
32:42
To spotlight: the host can click on the 3 dots on a person’s video and it will be in the pop up menu

You spotlight from the participants list
USCJ Admin
33:32
just click on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen you want to spotlight and select "spotlight" you need to be the "host" in order to do that.
Mordecai Miller
33:39
Diane, that’s the main drawback of Zoom. If more than one person gets on there’s cacophony.
Ben Herman
33:44
right now I have lay leaders who want a 2 hr hhd service. I think it’s unattainable so am going for 3 but we are prerecording in addition to attempting to do day of so can always cut
Carol Benedick
33:55
Since June I've been trying to get equipment to set up streaming. We still don't know when it will be delivered. Anybody have a camera and/or encoder they don't want? Needs to be compatible with streamspot.
Myra Berkowitz
34:01
Great, thanks. Our speakers today are not spotlighted and can't be seen unless I scroll.
Cantor Ted Prosnitz
34:05
How split screen 3 ways, e.g. Rabbi + Cantor+ Machzor?
Jan Klein
34:42
We are trying to continue on FB and add Zoom
Marla Cohen
35:18
We have tied our Shabbat Livestreams to Facebook Live as well
CSZ Meetings
36:33
I believe that communal singing can only work on Zoom if the Hazzan is the only one heard and everyone else sings at home while muted.
Diane Rapaport
36:49
will the screens be shared later on
USCJ Admin
37:12
yes we will share this presentation with everyone afterwards
tbi
37:31
can you share the chat room after the webinar
USCJ Admin
37:44
yes we will share the chat as well
Naomi Ben-Yehuda
39:02
Maybe for responsive reading, you can have a leader and responder in person, so there's a spot for home participants to read out loud themselves but on mute? Time question.
sschwartz
39:30
We plan to send everyone the Machzor to download for themselves and print and deliver some - USCJ has created one you can get for $1 per member unit.
Judy Silver
39:30
We are only allowed to sing quietly.
Marla Cohen
40:25
We will have a drive by machzor pick up during the week of the 7th. We will also make available the on line version
Jan Klein
40:36
We are going to deliver the Machzor but I like knowing it is available as a download
Judy Silver

Mordecai Miller

So we plan to include a Jewish calendar, our Yizkor book, Tashlich pamphlet, challa apples & honey.
Mordecai Miller
43:35
Oh, and packet of Masks!
Marla Cohen
43:36
We are having a HHD package (with elements that can/will be appropriate for home celebrations, including for Neilah as well) that will be distributed during Machzor pick up. Some will be delivered in person and the remainder will be mailed to congregants.
Naomi Ben-Yehuda
43:42
We have also discussed a shofar service drive-in, as well as a shofar service before Tashlich, in a park.
Tahl Ben-Yehuda
43:43
we will do Yizkor as a Zoom Erev yom tov so folks can really participate. During yom tov we will be streaming. We will do Kol Nidre that way as well - before yom to begins.

we have chosen StreamSpot as well and are waiting delivery of our new PTX camera - 3 week back order
Judy Silver
50:11
Can you have pre-recording with live streaming?
Gail Jeby
50:26
Not every synagogue has the funds to engage a director or buy equipment. any less costly options other than zoom. I would assume that you would have to hire a non Jew to be director or to operate system, including streaming-what happens if there is an electric outage and the equipment has to be reset?
Temple Torat Emet
50:53
We are doing streaming with a minyan present.

Cantor Ted Prosnitz
55:33

Can Adas Israel share about the Ark Visits? What is that? It's one of the Neilah customs we want to try to replicate?

On split screens on Zoom, we are working on it. My 19 y.o. sent me this link. I found a website that details how you can stream from multiple devices in a couple different ways. https://hackernoon.com/how-to-set-up-multi-camera-streaming-to-facebook-live-with-free-software-f6c66deb8619
Judith Avner
59:07
we are planning to email congregants a variety of pictures of our synagogue both the inside and outside for folks to use as they wish to create some opportunity for a connection with the familiar
Jo-Anne Tucker-Zemlak
59:41
Ark visits are preset signed up for times over the course of a few weeks ( in my shuls case) . each will have 20 minutes in the bldg. in front of the ark. a clergy will be in the room for a persoanl conversation. In ne dorr out another one family at a time
Lenny Simon
01:00:35
I see this is recorded, will it be available to watch after? I came late and wanted to watch the parts that I missed later
Rabbi Joshua Heller
01:01:17
waiting rooms help- limits the number of unknown people.
David Haas, BZBI Philadelphia
01:01:28
We've been zoombombed at BZBI and have done many things to prevent it from happening again. You should have invited presenters with more experience
Steven Gordon
01:01:43
You could use registration and respond with link
Miriam Abrams-Stark
01:01:44
Yes, the recording will be emailed along with the chat to all who registered for today's webinar.
Gwen Lichtman
01:01:45
how long does it take to manage the waiting room to get everyone in in a timely manner
Elissa Pollack (she/her)
01:01:45
Facebook live creates a recording, yes? We’re not using it on Shabbat for that reason. I’d love to be wrong about that (and be able to use Facebook live, since it’s free).
Linda Sussman, USCJ
01:01:57
Waiting room very difficult to do on HHD with so many people
Rabbi Joshua Heller
01:02:01
Facebook live does create a recording.
CSZ Meetings
01:02:10
We use the waiting room, and virtual gabbaim keeping an eye on who comes in. Also, locking down ability to unmute and change names helps prevent Zoom bombing.
Rabbi Joshua Heller
01:02:16
Though one could theoretically choose not to save it.
Harvey Finkelstein

Arthur Liederman
01:02:51
How does all of this management of the service fall into the guidelines of the Rabbinical assembly regarding no operation of the stream - that it should be fixed and on with no controlling by anyone?
Judy Silver
01:02:52
We are allowing members only
Elissa Pollack (she/her)
01:02:53
@Rabbi Heller: It’s possible to choose not to save a Facebook live broadcast? I couldn’t find it….say more?
Audrey Asher
01:03:03
we learned that Zoom is making changes this Fall (maybe before HH), and will be requiring waiting rooms for more than 100 participants
Dan Cohn
01:03:18
I believe Zoom has an option for sharing video which doesn’t require you to share your screen. Has anyone tried it? I believe it should work better than playing the video on your computer and sharing the whole screen.
Rabbi Joshua Heller
01:03:27
Zoom is requiring either waiting room or password starting erev Yom ppur.
Rabbi Joshua Heller
01:03:35
but you should be doing this anyway.
Rabbi David Krishef
01:03:55
You can choose to stream to youtube live or periscope instead - I don’t think they save the recording by default.
Lenny Simon
01:04:10
Not sure if this was mentioned but with many synagogues planning to use Zoom during the HHD, is there a concern of Zoom having issues, being overwhelmed, or crashing during those times? We are planning to live stream and prerecord everything using vMix as the production system and take zoom out of the equation
Judy Silver
01:04:11
50 people only with pre-registration with COVID questions. We are allowing one service only.
CSZ Meetings
01:04:21
We have shared video by itself in Zoom. Be sure to check the box to allow computer audio to be heard.
Rabbi Eric Cohen
01:04:49
If our cantor has to be off-site, is there any reason to have an in-Schul option?
Francine Semaya
01:05:10
our survey voted 2 to 1 not attending HHD services in person.
alan avery-peck
01:05:57
Temple Israel/Natick believes what we would do at a live service is very different from what we will present at an online service. So, needing to prepare for a great online experience, we are not doing anything live.
Temple Torat Emet
01:06:23
We in Florida are in a difficult position, our original plan went from 100 in June to 50 to 25 and now a minyan, our Covid numbers seem to be getting worse each day.
Myra Berkowitz
01:08:37
Woudn't small minyan + livestream be the most manageable and forget about two-way conferencing for large-ish service.
Ben Herman
01:08:43
we are in same boat. our infectious disease specialist said not safe to open for in person. final decision to be made August 19.prerecording in the interim bc all leaders besides me will be virtual (via our survey results)
Elissa Pollack (she/her)
01:09:00
Myra - that’s what we’re doing. Livestream (Live Control) with a minyan in the room.
