Amen!

01:13:49
Does anyone know if there is similar state legislation in Georgia? If not, does anyone have a local ordinance they are willing to share?

01:16:40
Here’s an example: https://www.dekalbcountyga.gov/beautification/vacant-property-registry-faq

01:22:40
Can the receiver maintain ownership of the property?

01:27:34
All of this is new!

01:28:16
Jonesboro also has a vacant property registry

01:28:57
if ordiance noncompliance goes to court , which is better for community, set fees and penalties or allowing judge to make that determination on a case by case basis?

01:32:22
Establishing ordinances gives your city teeth when addressing these issues.

01:32:26
I'm on the historic preservation commission. This information is soooo empowering!!

01:35:10
Great info for our Blight Committee

01:35:31
thank you so much for all the awesome info! it will definitely be put to great use!

01:36:01
Grass is actually ‘turf’

01:37:46
sidewalks are made of concrete, not cement

01:53:09
LOL, Crape Murder! Carmine taught me about that years ago!

01:58:56
I wanted to point out the importance of providing adequate root space for canopy trees - I have to brag on Thomasville and our leaders in embracing the silvacell root system to ensure that our downtown oak trees grow into real canopy trees.

01:59:40
Great point Kenny!

02:14:35
Recently visited Greenville and it is stunning. Walkability is key to this city. The Falls are beautiful, very interactive and created, still creating, economic development.

02:19:16
would you provide these forms for service projects

02:23:00
Thank you for the suggestion of the service project list and service project resource registry with prices. These tools will be immensely helpful in my community!

02:24:07
Awesome!

02:25:34
Remind me about splash pads

02:26:03
Carmine, what do you think of Gazebo's?

02:27:55
Our large fountain in our anchor park has been vandalized numerous times and is currently nonfunctioning. Perhaps a large piece of public art would work better.

02:29:41
You guys really are preaching! Amen.

02:30:52
We've been do Downtown Church! Love it!

02:31:26
Paint Brick??

02:31:37
Can you guys come to Nashville for a day?!

02:32:33
what are the best tree recommendations

02:34:00
When dealing with a downtown that needs everything to be brought into the new century, what order should we try to go after creating a well designed downtown? Walls, floors, ceilings, etc.

02:34:21
All your presentations have been outstanding and very informative. Thanks

02:34:57
This has been VERY informative and helpful! Thank you very much everyone!

02:35:28
In Jonesboro the pianos are under cover but also have plastic piano tarps that fit the pianos to protect them.

02:35:46
great question

02:35:50
You talked about alleys in prior session, any suggestion for addressing roof water runoff that is directed into alleys?

02:38:39
Great. Thanks.

02:41:25
How can we hear your Historic Color Theory sermon?

02:41:36
I just want to say I have learned so much and I've gotten so many great ideas and insights. Thank you so very much.

02:41:49
what are your thoughts on trimming your DT buildings with lights

02:42:09
I did not know Athens had a river

02:42:14
This entire training has been extremely beneficial for me. No doubt, one of the best trainings regarding downtown development and design that I have been in.

02:44:11
I agree Carla!

02:44:12
Our community is working on redoing our streetscape downtown, how can we balance our signage/wayfinding and parks with the new landscaping that will be coming in? I don't want to clutter.

02:44:14
Thank you for the wonderful beneficial information from all 3 sessions. I look forward to sharing this with my fellow council members, Mayor and City Manager.

02:44:17
we have about 80% of our buildings in disrepair due to YEARS of negligent government. We recently formed a HPC and a revitalization program and now have six buildings under active revitalization but getting new merchants in has been a battle. how can we convince the leary that now it the time?

02:44:26
We will miss you Carmine!!!!!

02:44:29
Good Luck.

02:45:09
Great workshop! Thanks so much!

02:46:02
How do you add bright colors when your code requires colors from the Historic palete

02:46:05
This Boot Camp was so timely for my community of Monticello, Georgia. We are halfway through a major public art initiative, and working on developing micro-retail so it was nice to receive validation that we are on the right track. It was also important to hear an expert state that programming was a major priority! Our DDA is becoming very active in that area as well - I loved the idea of "seeding" the crowd! I will have to try that, but I don't have the money to pay people to attend our programming! I will have to try and find the right motivator!

02:46:24
This workshop has been really good. I love the information, practical and doable. Great stuff!

02:47:54
Is there a particular paint vendor that you recommend that would have a historic color palate?

02:48:06
Canton has rule that new commercial structures must be at least 50% brick or stone. Suggestions to break that up so it doesn’t look so industrial. Brick seems to be the favored building material here.

02:48:07
What are your thoughts about having outdoor speakers and canned music playing in parks and open spaces? Pros and cons?

02:50:33
thank you so very much!

02:51:02
I'm wondering the same Michelle

02:51:33
How do we encourage more diverse residents to attend public events?

02:52:49
Our ordinance requires Benjamin Moore historic colors

02:56:58
We have a communication void in our community. Not everyone reads the paper and there is no other mechanism other than social media. The DDA has started a community news show on YouTube because we do not have any radio or television outlets available.

02:57:59
Thanks. Diversity helps drive the culture and style of the community.

02:59:52
What agency?

03:00:21
which agency?

03:00:57
Music gives your Downtown life

03:01:39
Can you give more information on that?

03:01:43
Thanks for the insight on music. Very helpful!

03:01:43
Randy, You mentioned that you were working with a city to create micro retail in shipping containers. Have you had any experience with convincing a city to allow for the containers to be utilized? Our city leadership is not in favor

03:03:01
Your presentation style and knowledge are awesome!! Thank you for all the information.

03:03:13
This information has been so helpful! Thank you so much for this fantastic training!

03:03:14

03:03:15

03:03:25
Thanks, Bernice, I truly appreciate the feedback.

03:03:51
This has been great! Thank you Randy!

03:04:15
This has been AWESOME Randy!
