I took it from my parent’s bookcase. It was the beginning of my deep interest in Jewish history — whether the accounts of the yishuv, aliyot, Yemenite Jews, etc. And it was the first book I read that had sex scenes. Of course, I fell in love with Ari ben Canaan.
