I would love to hold space to talk about the word resilient it has a negative connotation in many Black communities because we should not have to be resilient in response to racism and oppression. Often that word is used to celebrate us and at the same time deny communities the resources they need. I know that was not the intent here, but it is important to raise in our use of language

VA House of Delegates passed a package of voter suppression bills just yesterday, including restrictions on absentee voting and stricter photo ID requirements. Hopefully, they won't survive the Senate. But good point that this effort is alive and well in VA today...

Imminent domain will likely be used to displace families along coastal lands in the South.

The Federal Highway Administration has historically purposefully used infrastructure projects to destroy Black neighborhoods.

@sarah, thank you for the great article share re health equity. I wondered if Dr. Woolf looked at the health lens in his research of NoVA.

Baltimore being again another clear example with infrastructure racism and its highways, redlining etc.
