does that mean C-CDA has a less tightly coupled built-in API feature?
Janice Karin
01:34:51
or that it's not part of C-CDA and it's left to the implementers to determine?
Tone Southerland
01:48:20
CCDA does not have an API. It's "default" implementation is in XML. Accessing, parsing and working with that XML is up to each system. However, there are many IHE profiles that provide guidance on how systems interact with CDA/CCDA documents in an information exchange architecture. (Btw - im just an attendee. Rick may have a different/better answer :) )
Janice Karin
01:52:34
thanks. obviously I'm coming at this with more FHIR knowledge than C-CDA knowledge :)
Janice Karin
01:54:51
is there a 1-1 mapping between US Core and C-CDA or do you have to massage the data for the relevant areas with resources to make it fit into US Core?
Michael McNutt
02:15:58
Questions for Rick? Please offer them here in the chat
Janice Karin
02:17:07
how does this tie into TEFCA?

Will the presentation be available for download?
Michael McNutt
02:19:54
Gene, yes we will have a page dedicated to this session with the slides and recording hopefully later today
Janice Karin
02:20:59
is there any way to include the starting C-CDA documents and resulting FHIR resources from the demos as downloadable files?
Janice Karin
02:21:26
thank you
Tone Southerland
02:26:32
Are there any open source reference implementations of the XSLT that you are demoing that wraps it in a service?
Beth Turner
02:28:26
Can you go over the reasoning for adding the FHIR.transaction resource again?
Janice Karin
02:28:37
is there a way to show the original C-CDA document the data came from for tracking (I'm spacing out on the term for some reason, but the resource that tracks the source of data in a system)
Beth Turner
02:29:16
Provenance - right, Janice?
Janice Karin
02:29:50
provenance! duh
Janice Karin
02:30:14
thanks Beth - my memory failed me completely
Beth Turner
02:30:49
Its not a term we say everyday for sure

Jenny Reay
02:34:32
How much do CDA’s around the world differ from the US Realm? Has there been any movement or interest for incorporating the IPS (International Patient Summary) into CDA to support exchange across countries?
Janice Karin
02:35:43
last q more cleanly stated: is there a way to see the original C-CDA document the data in a generated resource came from for tracking purposes? are provenance resources created or some type of ID system used?
Beth Turner
02:39:06
Yes - thank you for the bundle type explanation
Tone Southerland
02:40:40
@Jenny we profiled IPS in IHE PCC recently and included CDA templates. https://wiki.ihe.net/index.php/International_Patient_Summary_(IPS)
