Our grocery store has been dealing with a lot of HR issues lately and I’ve had to step in and help navigate through it all. This call really emphasized the importance of a detailed employment contract and policy because that is something our gas bar and grocery store lack, which has meant the employees have “won” their complaints because the store managers haven’t been putting things in writing, etc.

We used to have an HR policy that was the same as Westbank First Nation but it became outdated and irrelevant. WFN made their plan updated. We had to create a new one several years ago that aligned with our companies and its needs.
