Tobin Freid, Durham County
52:48
@Dana - Regarding HOA restrictions - unless your HOA specifically mentioned solar in the covenant prior to 2007, you have the right to install solar in the place on your roof that will gain you the most solar. The NC Supreme Court recently ruled that HOAs cannot restrict solar on roofs that face the street or other public area if that reduces the usefulness of the system. https://www.southernenvironment.org/news/north-carolina-supreme-court-affirms-homeowners-right-to-install-clean-renewable-solar-on-their-rooftops/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CThe%20North%20Carolina%20Supreme%20Court,North%20Carolinians%20reap%20the%20benefits.

Are the utility companies required to provide rebate? Can they change the amount?
E Godwin

I've read recently that our local power company is trying to reduce the number of credits allowed to a user, and keeps raising a monthly rate fee they charge to user. I am not sure of what all this entails..

I'm looking at pairing my solar install with a roof replacement. My roof is about five years from replacement. Will Solarize be a yearly venture I can rely on to return to in the future, or is this a high-reward one-off?
Usman Mirza
01:01:54
Thank You for answering my question, are you limited to certain PV modules types and wattage for this program or is their options available for p-type and n-type PV modules?
John Majernik

What is the warranty period for the install work and materials?
Usman Mirza

Would this collaboration and partnership allow for expedited permitting from AHJ?

Hi! There’s been some issues with solar companies including Pink Energy. Many customers have panels that don’t work and the company has done little to help with repairs. They’re now out of business. How can we be sure this technology is sound and trustworthy

@Daio - We will have another round next year, but that will be it. The program is time-limited to 2 rounds. It is possible we do it again in about 7 years but that is not guaranteed.

Fantastic, that's great to hear. Gives enough time to build a war chest for it.
Usman Mirza

From technical POV, Too much solar back-feed on a residential feeder can impact voltage profiles and utilities either limit the interconnection on capacity or adopt smart metering to curtail the inverters from control center to maintain the reliability of the overall distribution system.
