Can youth be served through both OHY and the County system as long as the same months are not covered by both?
Kathy Kinard
36:59
Hi Maureen - no. At this time the program is limited to 3 months of assistance per household for the program duration.
Jennifer Calvert
37:07
Just to clarify, is Kim from California or Washington state?
Kathy Kinard
37:14
WA State
Emily Wildeman
38:43
Can this be used for deposit assistance?
Xochitl Maykovich
38:59
I jumped into this late -but one question I had was how would Counties deal with duplication? The Counties are getting CRF dollars, and these youth grantees are as well....
Kathy Kinard
39:11
The web page for the new Eviction Rent Assistance Program - www.commerce.wa.gov/serving-communities/homelessness/
Xochitl Maykovich
39:15
for the youth grantees, is there very strict criteria (age, etc?)
Caroline Lopez
39:15
Self-declaration is wonderful! Thank you!
Chris Lovings
39:19
If the young person isn't on the lease, is there any way to assist them?
Kathy Kinard
39:34
No deposit assistance. It is for rent and rental arrears.
Kathy Kinard
39:59
Age limit is up to age 24 for the OHY funds.
Dean Wight
40:14
Are the added young adult criteria required (one or more) required, or just a way to prioritize? Also, can any of the funds be spent on case management services?
Xochitl Maykovich
40:48
is that the head of household
Danielle Goodwin
41:09
How can youth access this funds?
John Stovall, Housing Alliance
41:21
CRF - Coronavirus Relief Fund
Kirsten Jewell
42:00
Why are we not allowed to enter data into HMIS?
Xochitl Maykovich
42:17
King county has got a plan to avoid duplication for our portion of funds
Xochitl Maykovich
42:25
but the wrinkle will be dealing with the youth grantees
Michele Thomas she/her, Housing Alliance
43:24
HMIS = Homeless Management Information System
Matt Davis
43:38
what if DI communities feel they do have HMIS capacity?
Amanda Sandoval
44:00
will landlords having to sign the form create a barrier if the young person is behind on rent how willing will landlords be to help the young person
Xochitl Maykovich
44:17
if landlords don't sign a form, there is risk the person will get evicted
Xochitl Maykovich
44:22
once the moratorium is up
Emily Wildeman
45:25
when are these funds available and when do they end?
Maureen Howard
46:13
we’re getting different definitions of “used” or “spent” or “end”

01:10:50
That's the resource with the bill numbers.
Todd Parker
01:10:54
Please consider: Rental assistance money is to keep the lending institutions receiving money. What if we treated home loans like student loans and provide an option to defer the loans. Even when people go back to school their student loans can be deferred. Subsidized loans require no payment during deferment while unsubsidized require interest only payments. If we need to keep lending institutions in business, go the interest only payment. Or offer attractive refinance packages where the first payment is due in 6 months to a year. This sure would take the stress off landlords and tenants and be a way to not have to spend billions on rental assistance.
Kirsten Jewell
01:12:50
Joey - any talk in the next relief bill about further deferment of student loans? Or forgiveness?
Rob Huff - MDC (He/Him)
01:14:26
Yes, Todd. I have thought the same thing.
Chris Lovings
01:15:02
If targeting those not registered for voting, this may uncover undocumented communities who cannot vote. Any thoughts about working around that?
Rep. Cindy Ryu
01:15:42
Voter outreach to tenants is super important. Homeowners tend to be much more "touched" by campaigns AND listened to.
Jeff DeLuca
01:16:47
community action has a comparison! I’ll try to find and link it
Michele Thomas she/her, Housing Alliance
01:17:20
Thanks Jeff!
Stephen Pagan
01:17:25
How do you protect communities of people with criminal histories, as many of the members have had their voting rights revoked?
Alice Lockhart
01:17:57
It would be awesome to do it broadly, e.g. transportation and funding for states and localities as well -- show all those zeros! If anyone finds that, maybe get back to all of us?
Jeff DeLuca

Thank you Rep. Ryu!!
Karen Studders
01:18:30
Recommend reading Greg Palast's recent book, "How Trump Stole 2020" to learn about all of the voter suppression that we need to overcome.
Alice Lockhart
01:18:30
And there it is! Thanks, Jeff.
Stephen Pagan
01:18:32
My mistake, the voting rights of felons are restored upon release from state bondage.
Karen Studders
01:18:41
Thank you, Twa-le for your presentation and courage! Good to "meet" you online. Everything is connected and EJ and COVID-19 are excellent ways to demonstrate the horrific impacts of most of our existing White systems on Black, Native & Latinx People. We need your wisdom to change our ways & the COVID-19 pandemic has given us an opportunity. Would love to connect with you off line. Thank you so much!
