was there any discussion about the protests by graduate students that happened during the meeting?
Joshua Bauer
46:40
President McDonnell, does CSU plan to host more invited speakers to campus such as Color of Food author?
Joyce McConnell
48:50
Yes! There are actually many speakers, but usually they are invited through programs, centers and various Vice Presidential units - for example, the speakers who will join us for the Diversity Symposium. I do think there is room for some additional speakers that are sponsored at the central university level and we are working on how to coordinate that with the colleges and other units.
Brittany Lynner
49:55
@Joshua Bauer - if you have ideas for speakers or topics, I’d love to know about them. The JEDI Committee and/or Wellness Wednesday Planning Committee could assist with coordinating programming!

President McConnell, thank you for the presentation. I would like comment on a few things: You mentioned the increase of 3% in wages, but at the same time, University housing has increased the rent by 4-5% in the same amount of time. Also, student fees are a large big burden on graduate student, so that student fees and rent added together are actually greater than monthly stipends for the majority of MS/PhD students. This leaves PhD students without an income for at least two months per year. Thank you.

I have a question for Mary Pedersen regarding the academic master plan: on top of college deans and department chairs, do CoNTTF also play a considerable role in the development of that plan?
Joyce McConnell
01:03:25
Thank you. I fully recognize the counter-pressures that offset the 3%. We are doing a complete budget overall - it will take time - but part of the goal of this is to figure out how to eliminate these counter pressures. I deeply appreciate you raising the impact of rising costs. It is important for us to communicate the full picture to the Board of Governors.

Thank you for your response
Roger Tyler
01:06:10
has anyone heard of CST before tonight?
Mary Pedersen
01:06:39
Yes, CoNTTF are encouraged to be involved in the planning meetings and their input is very important and valuable.
Joshua Bauer
01:06:42
Yes I have followed the project since the emails started going around last year!
Peter Kitzes
01:08:13
@President McConnell, first of all, thank you so much for coming. I wanted to mention, as it’s come up many times from undergraduate and graduate students how that because the website is so big, and there’s so much on it (so many great resources) things get lost in the shuffle. If there is anyway to help improve exploring the site, I’d love to help out in the initiative.
Roger Tyler
01:08:15
👍 glad to hear. I haven't seen anything about it. I'd love a flyer to put in grad bullpen
Joyce McConnell

We started in September 2020. There is a website the provides the history, the framework, the drafting groups and the timeline. We present it to the Board of Governors for its approval at the February Board meeting. We have held open fora, met with more than 71 groups and obtained thousands of comments which we integrated into the process. If you have not heard about it before tonight, I’d love your input on how we can reach more people.
