It is my understanding that In Washington State when a politician who has been in office decides to retire any money left in their election accounts must be given to other politicians, political action committees or charitable donations. What is done on the federal level? Can federal politicians keep any excess in their election accounts for themselves? To what extent am I wrong in my election knowledge?
