Training Call: Organizing From a Distance - Shared screen with speaker view
Liz Beall, CFROG
28:14
When doing hyper-local organizing online (CFROG focuses on Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties in CA) one of the issues we run into is targeting/reaching LOCAL constituents. We have a good EXISTING list, but we are all brainstorming ways to reach new people in our EJ communities besides putting feet to pavement. What avenues do you use to target geographically?
Francesca R.
29:22
I have a question too and don’t know how to raise my hand
Ranjana Bhandari
30:57
We have used targeted Facebook ads, very affordable, and possible to target demographics.
Lori Glover (she,her)
32:27
My question has to do with populations of people that are not comfortable with zoom and how do we recreate the energy an enthusiasm of an in person event?
Erin Rhodes (she/her)
33:03
YES
Denisse G (she/ella)
33:31
how to engage folks via zoom - when they might not be confortable with the technology or to sign up
Lori Glover (she,her)
34:23
Or what if they don’t have computers and can only do phone.
Denisse G (she/ella)
34:56
any best practices on using WhatsApp for mobilizing folks or other text messaging apps?
Liz Beall, CFROG
35:21
Our constant constraint in getting rid of politicians in the pockets of big oil - being a 501c3 and not a c4.
Lori Glover (she,her)
35:57
yes the constraints of c3 and c4 are a thing for us too
Ranjana Bhandari
40:34
We have the same issue as Liz We are a c(3) with c(3) funding. Having done all the groundwork against local pols through environmental campaigns that engaged a few thousand people, we are unable to endorse candidates in city council races. That is the next logical step.
