23:41
Its raining in Lake Mary by me lol

24:04
❤️

24:43
Good morning everyone!

26:30
Lori Pieper, What school are you at?

26:43
Sanford Middle School

27:12
I'm at Crooms. Used to be at SMS. :-)

27:13
Yes great question and glad you asked that

27:37
Great question Mary! I am done with SMS at the end of this year and we have had very little participation so I am nervous I won't find a replacement

28:15
Sheryl Shaffer, I hear Crooms is a great school!

28:29
It is! You heading to us next year by chance?

29:00
Teachers' Lounge conversations landed me my house:)

29:01
Sorry, but he wants Seminole High for their Aviation Program of Emphasis. End goal is Air Force Academy

29:14
excellent

31:49
What happens if we can't find a replacement? Do we have to stay on at a school we are no longer at? I won't have any other kids at SMS for years because my kids are way spread out in age lol

33:27
Seminole :)

33:28
Lori message me and I will help you with ideas

33:36
Thank you!

33:54
I propose to start a presidents advisory group. this is one of the fist topics to address.

34:30
SAC meeting is a great way to find interested parents

34:33
lori 407-283-8447 :)

34:45
Thanks, Melanie! Good suggestion

35:13
How many years can I stay as President. Is there a term limit?

35:56
@Diane it's in your bylaws. Typically it's two years in a row, but the max is 3.

36:17
If you take a year off, you can come back ;)

37:17
Chelsea Bowlin is also a slated president at a soon to be chartered PTA in Alachua County! Welcome Chelsea!

37:45
Welcome Chelsea!

37:58
Hi! Thanks!

38:44
Congrats Diane, Risa, and Chelsea! Your hearts are in the right place. Here to support in anyway.

38:45
In Alachua County we have President meet ups with the feeder schools.

39:32
We have a presidents group in Hillsborough.. Im thankful for it! I have most of my questions answered there and get tons of advice.

41:45
We are meeting this Monday at 7 pm. Join us if you are able.

42:22
how do we incentive participation from parents? specially middle schools?

43:15
Diane you are doing great Myles. Janel is so proud of your work

43:24
Get to the children, Juan. They will get to the parents.

44:35
I had to stalk the PTA lol

45:02
Seconding Juan's question. There was a security incident in our county, so they changed where all the student's can't receive external emails, so we now have no way to contact them. :(Admin will sometimes send to teachers to put in the student portal, but they aren't getting the messages like they use to.

45:18
(Middle School here also)

46:22
Adding that we're also not allowed on campus or able to send flyers.

48:10
Covid has had the silver lining of bringing forward new parents who want to advocate for the safety of their school. We found them on line through our FB group and invited them in.

49:17
I suggest to start a conversation with parents about what move them, what is their big WHY? They find out that their big why is their children and their success. they the question comes wouldn't make sense to be in the direction of your why? PTA is the place to be.

49:36
Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm excited about the PTSA Chat; there are definitely different concerns at the HS/Collegiate (Dual Enrollment) level. Please keep me posted

50:40
also, don't ask for help, for their time, instead offer resources to achieve their dreams, improve communication with youth, and triangulate the vision

51:02
because we parents teacher and youth have the same vision''

51:31
We opened up memberhub to all when we did registration to our Winter Event. We increased who we can contact by nearly 200 !!

53:17
Great point Shelly in letting people know what your local PTA is doing. And that evens goes a step further when asking for membership.

53:39
Hello - brand new PTA and Pres here, Umatilla Elementary School (Lake County). Can someone please provide Jessica membership contact info in comments? We definitely need help setting up our member HUB. Thank you!

53:45
instead of asking for help, ask what do you need? what do you do? we can help at PTA

53:46
Valerie Licata @ MemberHub is GREAT with assisting with the setup. MemberHub will be your BEST FRIEND.:)

54:08
Thank you!

54:18
Jessica Summers - membership@floridapta.org

56:08
Jessica is the Membership Committee chair and she, along with the entire committee, are here to help!!

56:54
I LOVE that! If your WHY is your kids than PTA/PTSA is the place to be! I'm stealing that lol maybe it will help get more participants! Great idea!! Thanks!

01:00:55
Change is good and it is okay... I have been preaching grace all year and it is the same with new presidents. A new President should do it a bit different...we are all different and that's okay. We cant grow without change.

01:01:26
Sure, Please own it! that is what we need

01:02:25
should any one needs more info please email me at ttmsptapresident@gmail.com

01:03:30
Lol I was voluntold to be President

01:03:41
That was 25 years ago for me!!

01:03:53
I was voluntricked

01:04:02
Frank told me to be on County board.

01:04:09
lol frank!

01:05:13
And those circles are even more intimidating for the one guy who wants to help.

01:05:18
same here. I just knew my why and jumped in.

01:06:55
also, start an IT committee. they are the ones who are helping us to communicate.

01:07:17
My first PTA seemed click-ish because they would all go into a room at drop off...so for weeks I would hang around near the room after drop off hoping they would ask. Finally they had their 1st general meeting...and I went to every single PTA Board member and told them I wanted in.

01:07:52
When they realized it they were super excited....they wanted people but didn't realize what they were doing.

01:09:23
Drive-Thrus are popular

01:09:28
Chelsea - what level are you

01:09:38
The biggest complain is no time no money. we stopped asking parents for money and turned to the corporate community for exposure with in the xxx number of families...

01:10:36
Elementary

01:11:06
Chelsea- we have done a lot of drive thru events and the kids enjoyed it

01:11:17
We have done drive thru events - a businesses sponsored treats we were able to provide to families. We have done a few dine out events as well. We are looking to do a drive in movie night (trying to figure out logistics still). We want to do more programs virtually as well

01:12:21
We have been setting up Photo Prop set-ups on campus…set up after hours, for teachers and students to use at Holiday times.

01:12:24
Spirit nights fundraisers could be drive-thru... just ask the business

01:12:27
Great ideas, Melissa. Drive Thru events are great to impact the community.

01:12:34
also, as fundrising we ask partners to sponsor the Talent Show. no one wins, but show their talent. this has been powerful

01:13:37

01:14:33
If you have Spirit Gear then sell, sell, sell!

01:14:39
Thank you everyone for the information. I have to go to another meeting. Will be back after lunch break.

01:14:53
Any suggestions for developing community without a fundraiser? I like the drive through ideas!

01:14:54
Remember to ask you principal to include you in Kindergarten Round-Up.

01:15:43
We have our first spirit night coming up and Chick-Fil-A said we can't solicit to their guests so that kind of stinks, are there other places that will let you set up a table to promote membership?

01:15:44
Chelsea- we did a cooking event. We had a parent teach how to make crepes. It was a free event that brought people together.

01:15:48
Chelsea... we have had PTAs do a paint night... they did a drive thru to pick up supplies and they did a paint party on zoom

01:16:12
Those are great! ThANKS

01:16:22
Thanks for joining us everyone! Stay in touch.

01:16:33
Thank you!

01:16:37
Sheryl - do you have spirit items to sell? Put some up as a give away. Or do you do senior yard signs - a give away for those is nice too

01:16:56
Lori - I think it depends on the business, ask before scheduling! I remember my old unit used to set up a table at PDQ , before I was on the board.

01:17:07
lori… call texas roadhouse. they have done a lot to help our PTAS

01:17:18
we have spirit stuff yes. :-) tnx

01:17:40
Thank you

01:17:57
Chelsea - Maybe invite a local business to share information with your Members and families virtually.

01:18:58
