I have tons of journals and I’ll start writing then end up not keeping up with it
Leiloni Ludden
51:32
No. There are physical journals that have prompts. Some are one prompt a day, and there are some that have morning intentions and evening reflections. So it asks a few different things to help the person pay attention to their emotions.
Patricia Burns

I did some recording of my thoughts/feelings for a while and I also found that helpful

NOVA Webinar
57:53
HI Sonja- It's such a great question. It is so hard to find that perfect "recipe.” The work does weigh heavily. I think that everyone has a different idea of what wellness and balance looks like to them. But there are some great resources out there.
Patricia Burns
57:55
I also found good comedy helps me. When the profession weighed heavier than usual, I found my self gravitating to certain comedy movie classics to unwind at the end of my day
Caterina Miceli
58:01
Sonja, unfortunately I don't think there's a "recipe" per say or a one-size-fits-all approach for alleviating the heaviness of this profession. I think a good place to start though would be to listen to yourself and your needs intuitively and find activities for yourself that spark joy for you and remind yourself of the beauty that is around you, to help to balance the negativity and trauma that we see everyday. For myself, activities that spark joy for me are creative writing, coloring, and develop a sustainable routine that brings me joy and look forward to throughout my day.

Sonja Armstrong I'll be praying for you and your team. Allow yourselves to also seek professional help and take the necessary steps for self-care, as Caterina Miceli shared.

I would suggest checking on your health insurance to find out if there is an EAP (employee assistance program) that will pay for counseling if it is needed to help you cope with the stress of your job.

Excellent point Dorothy thanks for the reminder

Heather Llewellyn
01:06:15
Has NOVA ever considered a way for advocates to share with one another- to assist in dealing with the trauma we experience within our roles/jobs/etc? In some cases people may not always feel as comfortable in going through their employer or in speaking with their colleagues locally. Just throwing it out there as a potential idea to help the field- in a professional manner with people who understand our roles and is ethically sound to utilitze.
