Greetings from Sofia, Bulgaria. So excited that the wait is over and the 2023 MLI Conference is now happening! The only thing better would be to be with all of you in person but appreciate the chance to attend and participate this way :)

If there was one action you could take in the next year to develop critical media literacy awareness in young people, what would it be?

Some great ideas - A MLI day in schools would help to support the good work that happens in schools and provide a focus for learning activities

A question to all in the panel from Eugenia Siapera: I really enjoyed hearing your contributions! I wonder what your thoughts are regarding a movement from literacy towards (critical) pedagogy? Can media literacy exist outside a broader discussion about citizen pedagogy?
Tony TRACY
04:35:36
Media literacy doesn’t stop with young people of course - older audiences need / want ongoing media literacy. [a growing cohort of western populations]. The civic health model helps here. Any experience with that space?

to Belinha's comment about talking over each other (IMHO being transformed by communication spaces that push us to be performative in our thinking and behavior) and the skill to listen and reflect: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/11/opinion/what-twitter-can-learn-from-quakers.html

Should we be defending and enhancing the role of public service media/broadcasting - which is under very serious threat from governments - and increasingly powerless in face of streamer / social media budgets
Iglika Ivanova

burning question, Tony!

it reminds me about The Public Service Media and Public Service Internet Manifesto(I lost the traces of which)
