Good morning all!

01:09:28
Nice to have you along Philip!

01:18:54
Greetings from Sofia, Bulgaria. So excited that the wait is over and the 2023 MLI Conference is now happening! The only thing better would be to be with all of you in person but appreciate the chance to attend and participate this way :)

01:22:17
Great to have you along Iglika! Our international members are very important to us.

01:30:11
After lunch we will do our 'rapid-fire' updates. So if you have something to share with the audience and you can limit yourself to 2 mins or less, let me know.

01:40:29
Hi Aidan, we will check that

01:43:28
Do post any questions for comments for the panel here

01:46:19
Hi Marike! So good to have you online. Hope it's not too cold there...

01:50:52
If there was one action you could take in the next year to develop critical media literacy awareness in young people, what would it be?

01:56:35
Staying warm! So glad I can join this event virtually.

01:58:30
Great question Aidan, but a HUGE one! We won't have time to answer it now but maybe in the afternoon..

02:00:48
Some great ideas - A MLI day in schools would help to support the good work that happens in schools and provide a focus for learning activities

02:21:41
🥰

02:40:16
Maith thú Máire Aoibhinn!!

I am here!

04:12:01
Hi everyone, if you have a question for the panel, please add it here.

04:28:01
A question to all in the panel from Eugenia Siapera: I really enjoyed hearing your contributions! I wonder what your thoughts are regarding a movement from literacy towards (critical) pedagogy? Can media literacy exist outside a broader discussion about citizen pedagogy?

04:35:36
Media literacy doesn’t stop with young people of course - older audiences need / want ongoing media literacy. [a growing cohort of western populations]. The civic health model helps here. Any experience with that space?

04:40:36
to Belinha's comment about talking over each other (IMHO being transformed by communication spaces that push us to be performative in our thinking and behavior) and the skill to listen and reflect: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/11/opinion/what-twitter-can-learn-from-quakers.html

04:57:11
Thank you for a great panel!

04:57:47
Should we be defending and enhancing the role of public service media/broadcasting - which is under very serious threat from governments - and increasingly powerless in face of streamer / social media budgets

05:01:45
burning question, Tony!

05:03:39
it reminds me about The Public Service Media and Public Service Internet Manifesto(I lost the traces of which)

05:08:55
Such an inspiring event and wise, multilayered discussions! Couldn't thank enough to MLI for organizing it in a hybrid format -- I know how much work it takes!

05:19:14
Thank you for hosting a hybrid event!

05:20:03
Thank you Brian & all - very informative day!

05:20:24
