Raise Green (Somerville MA) provides a crowd-funding platform for EJ organizations for solar & battery projects.
Rick Theis
01:01:57
Solar with battery back-up for neighborhoods is essential. BUT CPUC needs to get off its ass and set tariffs and rates to make that happen. Write them now while they are considering it, because their staff doesn’t seem to understand the urgency or they may be intentionally dragging their feet to support PG&E’s opposition to neighborhood owned Microgrids.
Susan Silber
01:03:54
Lisa, not yet! The vision is to replicate this regional model in other regions.
Steve Ongerth
01:05:45
Agree completely, Rick, but we have to organize the grassroots power to make it impossible for the CPUC to ignore us; that's in progress, but not there yet.
Rick Theis
01:06:54
Absolutely, Glad to be here to listen and help.
Rosana Francescato
01:07:02
Second that emotion on microgrids. A microgrid tariff that applies to all renewables-driven microgrids is essential to commercialize microgrids and make our communities energy resilient.

Does anyone know the details about the notion that CA already has an oversupply of solar power to the point that some of it is being shut off, or sold at a loss to other states? https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-solar-batteries-renewable-energy-california-20190605-story.html This seems to contradict the new law that all new residential construction must include solar panels.
Marg Hall
01:52:43
Yes Gabriela that’s correct, customers need to pay out of pocket and wait for rebate; we may have moved them to a program to fix this but the money is almost allocated.
Rick Theis
01:55:06

02:04:28
@Marc — People Power solar systems can connect to the PG&E grid. We offer information to help property owners to make the best decision with their community on what they want. Again, we do not push technology or programs. People reach out to us for support on creating cooperatively owned energy projects. Only the people can build the solution for the people. We offer technical assistance to make it happen in a cooperative way.
