We had a lot of trouble getting US Sailing courses for our Level I Instructors

same at Sagamore

I had to go out and coach the young instructors we had at Sagamore this summer

That US Sailing L1 issue was a pandemic residue that they hope to fix in 2022.

I would like to see a few more JSA sanctioned big boat races in the future.

Ira - most of the programs in the area don’t classify themselves as camps

Camps in NY have different safety standards than single purpose sailing programs

For your program… I think you want to look at reclassifying your sailing sessions that will help you manage the numbers and resources needed to get your kids on the water safely

It’s an NYC thing. The DoHMH classifies any summer childcare above 10 as a camp.

Try reaching out to Hudson River Community Sailing they run bigger programs

Would incorporating TEAM RACING into JSA in all boat classes help? Make it a team effort. This makes it more social and fun.

Waterfront Center has an amazing program that in part, inspired the US REACH program. New England Sailing and Science (NESS) has an incredible program. Both two great resources to lean on

Are there dates for next summer yet?

Sagamore would love to host a regatta next summer

We are assessing calendar for 2022 based on school calendars and will propose that in the next month

JSA will be polling our members about their own dates, but at present we are leaning towards similar dates as in 2021.
