Hello everyone from New Bern, NC!
Hi Tracy!! So excited to see you!
Great idea Tracy!
Please direct all questions and comments to the entire group, thanks!
Question: How will the modification of food service impact budget?
are there cost effective ways to do the custom/butler service?
Hi David Kinney!
When I have large groups for lunch, I try to serve all gluten free meals without comprising the taste, etc. Seems like so many ppl. are gluten.
1 in every 133 people have Celiac disease so they need STRICT gluten free meals.
What about coasters Kari?
to cover the food, correct Kari?

Plate covers are a great reusable solution for individual portions & guest comfort as well
Glass covers and plate covers are great sponsorship opportunities! Wonder if you can get reusable ones that people can take home to use at home.
For attendees who are fully vaccinated, is it still recommended for them to sit 6ft apart or is 3ft apart safe when they are eating inside?
I’ve never understood the point of having us put our allergies on the registration when we still have to track down the chef to ask about allergies?
Katrina, great point! The menus should come to you from the chef with the allergens/ingredients identified. The menus can and should be designed around the allergens. The more the chef knows in advance the better they can design around them.

We did that! I have a metal lunchbox with our logo
Here are the statistics I was looking for: 74% Americans are trying to limit sugar in their diet• 45% are concerned about eating food away from home• 43% follow a specific diet or eating pattern• 60% consider their health when deciding what to eat & drink
intermittent fasting - more people are doing this. Is anyone asking this at registration to avoid ordering meals/food waste?
That's a great point Sarah -- listing the times of your meal functions on registration would help!

I have a customer who serves her exhibitors early from 10.30-11.30am because her tradeshow is open during lunch. It seems like a nice thoughtful touch. They get their own buffet
I was at a conference one time on a Sunday where they had it in a highly religious town that closed every restaurant on Sundays. They didn’t have the conference center open their restaurant, so the only option for food was attendees/exhibitors/etc. getting in their cars and driving to fast food over 10 miles away.
Yes, great point, Sarah! A lot of people are fasting. And, as Julia said about timing that is important, especially if you are doing staggered meal times to limit attendees in each food function
Oh man, what an experience Katrina!
Also restaurants may or may not be open/have reduced hours due to limited staffing
Are caterers also following that motto of absorbing staffing cost?
Awww, more Labor cost
Could you just increase the cost of the food items, instead of charging additional fees, etc.?
Some venues are doing that @Barbra
Question: Where incentives and protections in place for venues/caterers, is it feasible for a planner include donation of leftover meals as part of the contract?
Really great discussion!! Thank you panelists and nice work moderating Michelle!!!!
Great discussion, everyone! Thank you panelists and Michelle!

Well orchestrated and great panel. Sorry I have to jump off. Nicely done and thank you.
Is it now more difficult for venues to obtain or continue the relationship that they had with local farmers, etc.?
This session has been recorded. All registrants will receive the recording!
All great information. Love the diverse POVs and focuses presented! Thank you MPI CAC!
To Dan's point, during the height of the pandemic, I bought stock in Kroger and Tupperware:)
Has the percentage of the food waste within the hospitality industry decreased, increased drastically or remained the same due to COVID-19?
Stick around after the panel to network with your peers!
Which states are allowing 3’ for vaccinated people?
Nice, Michelle! Will you share your gains with us?
lol @Tracy! I'm a stock novice, but there were definitely gains! I'm Robinhood's newest fan:)!
thank you all!
