Gwen - right on! The VFDs are a key component in bringing Rx fire to communities. Education/training of the members will go a long way to acceptance and implementation.

Many times the members of VFDs do not understand Rx fire. They understand "putting the wet stuff on the red stuff".

Is it easier (politically) to manage state lands than federal lands. And is anyone familiar with Montana's program to slide federal lands over into state custody where the state has been able to get after aggressive management without the law suits.

Thanks Eytan for seeing your example prior to you helping us with pile burning above Jemez Springs on some private property. We are worried about not having enough snow to burn safely and appreciate the new procedures suggested for doing this in a different and safe manner next to a housing subdivision.
