Gwen - right on! The VFDs are a key component in bringing Rx fire to communities. Education/training of the members will go a long way to acceptance and implementation.
Gwen, you are a rockstar. We'll get to scale when we include all practitioners! Wonderful.
Gwen- love your passion! MS
Many times the members of VFDs do not understand Rx fire. They understand "putting the wet stuff on the red stuff".
Is it easier (politically) to manage state lands than federal lands. And is anyone familiar with Montana's program to slide federal lands over into state custody where the state has been able to get after aggressive management without the law suits.
I have been wondering if the PODs software could be used to good effect finding areas of greatest benefit for Rx fire?
Thanks Eytan for seeing your example prior to you helping us with pile burning above Jemez Springs on some private property. We are worried about not having enough snow to burn safely and appreciate the new procedures suggested for doing this in a different and safe manner next to a housing subdivision.
Please chime in if you have specific questions for our panel
Great job, everyone. Thanks to Joy and the rest.
Has the smoke senative community member starting to come around to the need for RX?
This is a great discussion and information, especially for me, not knowing all the "terms" and "Icons." Great to see the collaborations that are happening.
What about getting spot and longer term predictions from USWS/NOAA for Rx burns and smoke behavior?
Kudos to TAC and FSG for loans of air filters for bad smoke conditions
How do you address a community restsant to burns?
Link to a post about the Three Sisters Collective HEPA Air Cleaner distribution during the Medio Fire. This was such an awesome grassroots response! https://www.instagram.com/p/CEVnovYFogR/
That is perfect Gwen!
