My first semester at Bridgewater State was in 1984, and traveling from Quincy down Route 18, I was delighted to finally see the famous Toll House restaurant. Alas, within a few months it burned down. So I never got to eat there.

I am from Abington (Whitman was originally South Abington). We went there a number of times when I was a kid.

I grew up in East Bridgewater - I was little when it burned down (but my neighbors were in it that evening). I wish it was still there!

My parents Helen and George had their wedding reception in the upstairs rooms of the Toll House on Christmas Day 1948.

I remember eating there with a group of Brockton High School friends in the garden room that had the tree growing up through the center of the glass roof.

Growing up in Abington I always thought that place was a very high end place for wealthy people. Never ate there. Sad it burned down

We lived in Whitman for five years in the 80s and 90s - loved an opportunity to learn about the Toll House - I've purchased four books so that my three adult sons and I have the history of the Toll House to share and as a keepsake of our time in Whitman!

Bill Bristol Class of 71 here... It is my understanding that Nestle owned the recipe and that they put the recipe for the Toll House cookie on the semi sweet morsel package. However, some years ago, Nestle altered that recipe. D o you cover the original Toll House Cookie recipe in your book?
Marjorie Turner Hollman
01:27:06
Yes, Kathy has the original recipe in her book.
