IS this an advisory vote or actual voting member?
Mary Fertakis, Washington
01:25:43
Thank you!
Melanie Haas, Kansas
01:29:07
Can you please clarify what classifies as “incorporate?” In KS we have a student voice committee that Betty and I both serve on. I’m curious where the bar is...
Melanie Haas, Kansas
01:29:41
(KS doesn’t have student members, I’d love for us to include students.)
J. Lee Schultz, Washington
01:30:32
To clarify, for WA, our student board members have advisory vote only
Woody Exley, Connecticut
01:32:20
Robert, could you comment how states vary in how much power their boards have?
Mary Fertakis, Washington
01:35:15
Would you share which states have voting student members, please? TIA.
Joey Hedger, NASBE Associate Editor
01:38:39
The 7 states with student members are California, Washington State, Tennessee, Maryland, Massachusetts, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. But in WA, the student members have advisory vote only and in DC the students' vote is recorded but not counted.
Mary Fertakis, Washington
01:39:19
Thank you!

Policy is developed based on the Board's ability to understand and analyze programs and the implementation thereof.
