Also wanted to share another interview - this one with a grassroots organizer:> “Before you can build political power you need a base.">> How to Build Political Power from the Ground Up with guest Aquilina Soriano Versoza> https://www.kbhadvocacy.com/podcast/politicalpower > ...related to the power mapping she was talking about when looking at the organizations that are involved as donors (and as advocates). That podcast is a MASTER CLASS on building a base. The guest isn't running for anything (yet), she's just talking about building political power.Similar to when Julie Anderson talked about getting on commissions as a way of doing (credentialing) public service work & making connections who will know you from your work.

My problem is I speak so quickly. I am so used to having to give report on my patients and not “be late and having OT” I need to learn how to speak slower.

George Lakoff - Don't Think of an Elephant! Know Your Values and Frame the Debate. Non-partisan opening for a Civics 101 class: "I don't know how you vote, and you don't know how I vote, but I am sure that we have common things we need for our community." Class identifies community needs. The top three needs in every class I have taught are homelessness, new immigrants in the community that need help, public education. Other topics include: transportation for senior citizens in a rural area for medical appointments, infrastructure and road or bridge rebuilding, and community services for all. In the first class I taught there were 33 teachers. Only two of them knew who their elected officials were. Always take the time to teach others how to look up who represents them. Answering questions is modeling how a future elected would communicate with a constituent whose views they don't share.
