Susan Englander

Here is my remembrance, just to save time: errrie was a pain in the butt, and I welcomed it! When I was on the Milk Club board, she emailed me weekly with current issues, urgent updates, and other messages about informing and motivating the Milk Club E-board and membership. She was usually on point. I was not put out; I was happy that someone was minding the store! She was a model member with a sly and sharp sense of humor. She was what I would want any student or colleague of mine to be - curious, moved to contribute, mouthy, and well-spoken.When I stepped down from the Eboard, I asked her why she no longer emailed me. I missed her. She huffed, "Well, why should I? You aren't on the Board any more!" Still, when we saw each other on MUNI or in a meeting, its was good to sit next to her and just chat. She doggedly made the medical establishment care for her appropriately after her stroke and seizures, demonstrating that pains in the ass live longer. She made the most of her time on the planet.

Jasmine Gee
43:35
Am with SF Health Network and am 71-1/2. my vaccines are Pfizer at SF General
Kevin Bard
43:38
I'm not scarred of the vaccine. I am scarred of the needle!!!
mari they/them
43:47
Can they explain why Children are not supposed to get vaccinated?
Brad Chapin
43:52
I didn't even bleed
Brad Chapin
44:01
it's hardly a shot at all!
Christopher Christensen
44:06
Down in LA they are vaccinating essential workers. Why aren’t we doing the same.
Brad Chapin
44:32
Mari, I believe that there's just not enough data specific to youth. Good question.
Seamus
44:45
i had my second dose of moderna 3 days ago. Just had very slight chills
mari they/them
45:23
Also I wanted to know more about why we are still waiting to vaccinate Childcare and public and private teachers? I heard possibly feb 24th but it will take so long to protect this vulnerable populations
mari they/them
45:35
Thanks for answering the question about children!
RJ Sloan
46:17
Dr. Colfax. Community must have SRO hotel Coronavirus outbreaks. 246 SRO's have had outbreaks but their names are still hidden by DPH. RJ Sloan (RJSLOAN@YAHOO.COM) 415 465 3261
Brad Chapin
47:01
Amen
mari they/them
47:48
Also is DPH working with SFMTA to create safe transfer of our children to school when in-person learning starts again?
mari they/them
47:57
This is a great point about universal healthcare
RJ Sloan
48:21
Housing is Healthcare.
mari they/them
48:29
Yes!
danielle (she/her)
48:41
is there a way we can get the vaccine made my other labs that aren’t Pfizer/moderna?
mari they/them
48:47
When does the SF VA get allocation
Brad Chapin
49:08
Danielle, no, not until they're approved.
JConr B. Riddell
49:15
I have to head out early but I am getting my vaccine!
RJ Sloan
49:34
SRO Hotels are Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF's).
Jennifer Li
49:43
I think the VA is already getting them. I had friends who are older vets who already have their appointments/ gotten their first shot
danielle (she/her)
49:44
I should clarify .. do they have a patent on those and how can we get the generic.
JConr B. Riddell
49:44
Have a good night everyone, see you at the next meeting and keep up the fight!
Brad Chapin
49:54
Mari, SFVA has vaccine and has it's own system (that is closer to a "universal" system)
Barry Taranto
50:24
When are transit operators/taxi drivers scheduled to get their vaccines?
mari they/them
50:26
Jennifer Li thats most likely for Vets over 65. Im thinking for Vets under 65. Tysm!
mari they/them
51:00
When will SFMTA bus drivers be able to get vaccinated?
Brad Chapin
51:05
There is no generic and likely won't be for some time, as far as I'm aware. The UK-based vaccine is very inexpensive. Good questions.
Jeffrey Phillips
51:19
Transport drivers are in 1B, including SFMTA I believe
mari they/them
51:29
Thank you jeffery!
danielle (she/her)
51:39
thx brad !
Brad Chapin
51:50
Barry, Tier info is available on the website. It's very likely that he'll go over this during the presentation but, if not, I'll make sure to get that answer to you.
Kevin Bard
52:14
61.8% 80+ wow.
Tes Welborn
52:24
How about focusing on BiPOC and also those without home computers, even without cell phones?
danielle (she/her)
52:28
what about client who are in care facilities .. not just the staff even if they don’t fit age criteria ?
PAUL AGUILAR
52:31
will this slide presentation be made available or where can we obtain it?
Jeffrey Phillips
52:47
@mari 1B Tier 2 that is
PAUL AGUILAR
52:48
It would help to educate many iother groupsd I belong to
mari they/them
52:57
How is DPH working educate with Vaccine hesitant folks esp BIPOC folks who have been harmed by the Medical Industrial complex?
Julie Roberts
53:01
why isn’t there a Tenderloin zip code site yet like in Mission & Bayview?
RJ Sloan
53:06
The formerly homeless living in supportive housing SRO hotels are living in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF's). Please prioritize vaccine for Supportive Housing residents.
Cynthia Crews-Pollock
53:20
Is the URL on this slide where the slides can be found?
Jeffrey Phillips
53:27
@Julie I think Tenderloin should be served through the Moscone site
mari they/them
54:00
Hmmm but Mocone isn’t in the TL but it is kinda sorta close
danielle (she/her)
54:26
can heathlcare workers without vaccine giving ability recommend clients
Jeffrey Phillips
54:28
True; not the best. Closer than Bayview/Farmers Mkt though
RJ Sloan
54:57
I ❤ Dr. Fuchs!
Julie Roberts
55:38
Jeffrey thanks for the reply, but there’s no zip code preference like the other two neighborhoods have, and so many people in the TL can’t travel far or don’t feel safe doing that. need a site in the neighborhood.
mari they/them
56:02
Mos def Jeffrey im just thinking of folks with disabilities or single parents who are without childcare
Jeffrey Phillips
56:15
I agree. That's definitely a big access problem
Jennifer Li
56:16
Moscone is a statewide site— it serves even folks from Oakland etc
RJ Sloan
56:36
FREE Lyfts to mass vaccination sites🙏
Jeffrey Phillips
57:14
As a Lyft driver, I support this. But I also feel vulnerable not being vaccinated!
Nomvula OMeara
57:35
There are like 13 host that are currently recording. I have that feature. However I’m not a host. Can you let me know please?
Nomvula OMeara
58:04
I can’t sit through entire meeting. I have another meeting to go to physically.
Harvey Milk Club
58:46
Nomvula, it’s recording to the cloud. We can share the link to the recording after the meeting.
mari they/them
58:55
Thats real Lyft drivers need the vaccine too
mari they/them
59:09
Universal Healthcare now!
RJ Sloan
59:41
UBI 🔥👊🤞
Barry Taranto
01:00:01
Taxi drivers should have priority, because we transport more vulnerable populations than TNC drivers (low-income seniors, the disability community, homeless from hospitals, etc.).
Brad Chapin
01:00:06
I totally agree that lyft drivers should be vaccinated asap
Jeffrey Phillips
01:01:04
122,420 / 35,764 current data
mari they/them
01:01:20
I would like to ask Colfax what he thinks of the city lawsuit of in person learning when DPH hasn’t vaccinated our teachers yet, does this lawsuit help to stop the spread of covid or get teachers vaccinatied?
Kevin Bard
01:01:58
Blacks are low!
mari they/them
01:02:21
Theres no Middle EAStern or am I missing that?
Jeffrey Phillips
01:02:45
Fewer Black people employed in healthcare, fewer over 75.Not a great reason, but that's why
mari they/them
01:03:00
is anyone collecting data on Middle Eastern folks getting vaccinated?
RJ Sloan
01:03:15
4 Kids: When Does Big Bird get the vaccine?
mari they/them
01:03:48
RJ I heard Seseme Street is in lockdown and hasn’t opened up since cover hit
Sophia Andary [she/her/hers]
01:04:02
Mari sadly they mark middle eastern folks as White! something I want to get the city to change.
mari they/them
01:04:09
OMG!~
Julie Roberts
01:04:20
Mari good point, we’ve had to push for data to be gathered & shared for Middle Eastern/Arab in lots of places. DPH should collect/share too.
mari they/them
01:04:23
Thats so so so so wrong Sophia
PAUL AGUILAR
01:04:52
What about those of us who have AIDS diagnosis? I know Dr, Gandhi has been trying to gather research and stats but one is clear that if infected with covid those of us with lower cd4 counts will be impacted by covid more dramatically
mari they/them
01:05:14
Ok so maybe thats the question for Colfax, when will they start to collect data on Middle Eastern folks in terms of vaccination
Julie Roberts
01:05:20
we’ve gotten SFUSD & DCYF to do a better job with Middle Eastern/Arab.
Sophia Andary [she/her/hers]
01:05:27
you’re telling me, I have to mark white, but instead I mark Asian or refuse to disclose since “other” is not an option.
mari they/them
01:05:34
thats discrimination by omission…. Literally omitting a whole community
Julie Roberts
01:06:14
another issue is that the vaccine sign up form is only in English, Spanish, written Chinese & Filipino. but the TL needs Arabic & Vietnamese
maxine doogan
01:06:16
thank you for the presentation
mari they/them
01:06:20
Ok so maybe thats the question for Colfax, when will they start to collect data on Middle Eastern folks in terms of vaccination
Julie Roberts
01:06:55
can we ask if DPH will make the vaccination sign up form available in more languages including those?
danielle (she/her)
01:07:12
@julie that’s not even all the city identified threshold languages ! disappointing
Laurence Berland

maxine doogan
01:22:14
if a person has already had covid, do we need to get vaccinations?
Brad Chapin
01:22:35
Edward, can we follow up about those with HIV/AIDS diagnoses? Seems like that was a hot topic.
Brad Chapin
01:23:12
A lot of other questions seem to have been answered in one way or another.
Shannon Bolt (they/she/he)
01:24:13
Maxine, from what I’ve read folks who have had COVID are recommended to get vaccinated.
Brad Chapin
01:24:33
That's right, Shannon.
Shannon Bolt (they/she/he)
01:24:36
With regards to folks with HIV/AIDS, I believe they would be eligible starting March 15th per doctor recommendation based on the tiers presented
Jennifer Li
01:24:41
I do want to commend that at least the SFgov website is available in eng cheese and Spanish— the state one doesn’t have it in chinese or spanish I don’t think

I know this may sound like a minority perspective, but the admissions changes for Lowell High School could harm those high academic achieving students from POC communities who can't afford to attend a private school. For example, my friend Rosa, a Latinx high achiever, graduated with honors from a private university after attending Lowell. I am concerned the academic standards will drop with this new lottery system, and that may hurt the chances of really smart students from being accepted into the more prestigious colleges. However, the diversity challeges at Lowell do need to be addressed.
