How can we uplift the particular challenges that women and especially women of color face in the South? The gender and racial wealth gap is enormous here in South Carolina: women of color own less than 5 cents for every dollar owned by white men. With about 25% of households with kids under 18 led by single women, the intergenerational consequences are huge. How can we in research, practice, advocacy, and philanthropy do a better job of tackling the disparities that disproportionately affect women and women of color in the South?
