If the mom mite only leaves with one or two daughter mites what happens to the other mites that were laid in the cell?

Question; Been sick for a few weeks (better now), but couldn’t manage hives. had a swarm. Looking for upcoming broodless oppotunity in original hive to treat w OAV. Am I correct planning this for 14-18 days after the swarm?

I’m a newbie-keeper (newbee). No hives started yet. Question) are these mites so prolific that a newly started hive is bound do get mites by virtue of the first bees introduced into the hive - carrying mites in? If not - how is it that they eventually introduced in a hive / apiary? What is the mechanism for introduction of mites into the hive?
Richard Burt
01:00:39
Bee population is falling , but mite population is not.

3% now is not good because It suggests that that when mites shouldn't be so high, they are, 5% in August suggests that there are fewer bees so relative mites are high.
Kevin Finn
01:03:55
How long of a brood break is necessary to have an impact on mite populations if not using other treatments in combo with brood break?
Kevin Finn
01:06:34
Yes, only using brood break
Ted Job
01:07:08
If you have a double deep hive, where do you take your sample for alcohol test
Kevin Finn
01:07:58
What alcohol do you use for alcohol wash?
Cheryl Wright
01:08:23
70% isopropyl, regular rubbing alcohol
Alec
01:08:39
How long does one mite live for?
Patte
01:08:45
what is a mites life span?
Lior Holtzman
01:09:04
I used Vodka during the pandemic…worked great. All the Alcohol was sold out.
Patte
01:10:13
so simular to the bees
Kevin Finn
01:11:00
I drank vodka during the pandemic and agree it worked great :-)

Is there a residue or taste/smell that is imparted to the honey from oxalic acid?
Andrea Guillet
01:22:44
so would oxalic acid be the best treatment option for a top bar hive?
Bruce
01:26:50
I understand that Formic Pro can be used with honey super on the hive. If so, how many super can there be on a 2 brood chamber hive and still use Formic Pro. What method do you recommend, the two strips or just one strip.
Cheryl Wright
01:36:39
Since it has been illegal to use OAV with honey supers on, we really don't know if it imparts a taste to the honey.
Cheryl Wright
01:37:18
If you have a top bar hive with a screened bottom, OAV can be used, if you have a solid bottom board, it can be a little more tricky.
Lior Holtzman
01:37:34
Medhat Nasr mentioned that the recommended dosage for OAV is too low as it breaks the chemical structure down with the rising temperature of the vaporizer. What are your thoughts on this?
Lior Holtzman
01:41:38
Yup. Thank you.
Lior Holtzman
01:41:59
He was talking about 3 grams

I have a hive that just swarmed and will have a broodless period between existing brood and the brood that will be laid by the new queen. Am I correct planning to treat with OAV 2 weeks after the swarm left? Also If there won’t be any capped brood, is there a reason to apply more than one OAV treatment in this particular instance?
Eric
01:42:33
Your thoughts on Apilife Var?
Bruce
01:42:53
How do I check for mites after the treatment. Do I do alcohol wash or just check the sticky board.
Workinger
01:43:09
2 deeps and one fairly full super
Workinger
01:43:52
thx

Don’t answer if it doesn’t fit. Asian Bees are able to fight mite. How to get European Honeybees to do the same?
Lior Holtzman
01:48:57
That was great.
