+++ Rachel! Philanthropic investment in this care coop model can really help create and support innovative care and can help push and create models that government programs can also adopt and support.

01:04:02
Thank you Rachel! Good ideas for us to think about.

01:05:52
So appreciate Rachel's comments on philanthropy's role in supporting innovation, experimentation, community leadership and scaling. The examples of Courage and CoRise are amazing, and coops have the potential to scale as never before. Thank you to all the speakers!

01:07:18
Fantastic, thank you everyone! Rachel really appreciate your call to action of funders to think about capital allocation in ways that prioritize true partnerships, worker power, and opportunities for systems change innovation.

01:09:35
Hi Dena, funding for urban cooperative development. USDA Rural Cooperative Development has been a very important supporter of cooperative development in rural areas but there is currently no public funding for urban cooperative development, where we are seeing the greatest growth.

01:11:01
Bingo, yes Katrina +++

01:11:38
Katrina, yes we have also experienced that in our work to support and scale shared ownership and worker cooperative models.

01:12:16
Texas Women's Foundation saw the fear about debt from child care home providers. We were prepared to set up a small loan fund for providers who needed equipment/construction to meet higher licensing standards and also to help build credit scores. We did not move forward.

01:12:54
Before we end, sharing a RESOURCE for funders and policy makers making the case for coops and employee ownership within their organizations: https://project-equity.org/about-us/publications/the-case-for-employee-ownership/

01:14:23
Also just want to emphasize that this model has real benefits for both workers and those receiving care. Many of the care workers are Seniors themselves and are very interested in learning innovative care models that support individuals to maintain and increase independence and quality of life of the individuals they are providing LTSS.

01:16:35
Interestingly, in our work with home-based child care providers they centered home ownership as one of the primary obstacles to their growth as providers. Interested to see if this has been a theme for other practitioners on the call? We started CARE to address this problem to invest in homes as part of the childcare infrastructure challenge and build asset ownership for providers of quality care: https://www.missiondrivenfinance.com/invest/early-care-education/care-investment-trust/
