How can one get started in the cataloging? Not much has been done here before I started managing the lab and getting folks to start is challenging. Any ideas?

Is there any published study on the stability at -70 vs -80C.
Namrata Jain
01:00:27
A few resources about sample stability at -70 are here: https://www.freezerchallenge.org/sample-storage-temp-info.html

Actually knowing different best practices would be so insightful. Would it be possible to request short videos from all attendees of their best practices and turn them into a collaged practices video

What reasons/concerns have been given to not change from -80 to -70?
Julie Sesen
01:09:32
very good advices James, I have never thought of using ice packs or Styrofoam boxes to fill the empty spaces! Thank you

Does anyone have experience with bacterial strains in -70 freezers? A lab at my hospital is reluctant to increase the temperature for these samples.
Kerry Kelley

Has sites here experience using TRAXXX by Klatu predictive failure monitoring system and how it can be used to start a freezer management effort or challenge?

Microsoft Lists is a good resource for tracking inventory/assets if your institution is already invested in Microsoft 365. It offers lightweight database/automation features that can get you a little more than excel.

I use a basic Excel spreadsheet for our -80°C. I add extra location info (shelf or door #) to our inventory program used at the university.

We went with Microsoft/SharePoint lists mainly because of some limitations in Quartzy to be able to notify us for certain fields (e.g. expiration dates, service/maintenance dates).
