Something we haven’t talked about is the culture revolving DPS and how they perceive Montbello students. In 2010, we were made to feel like failures because the onus was placed on students and their test scores for why the school was going to shut down. This, for first generation students was heartbreaking
Dr. J

I think it is also important to highlight the importance of offering elective core content courses. For example, computer science and history of math -- courses that would provide math credit, but also not "traditional" math courses and very elective-style-based.
Andrea (Andi) Leggett (she/her/they)

To Mayra’s point, our current students feel like DPS sees them as failures too.
