What great news! RWN is a critical element for the Plan of Action being finalized for COP 15, complementing CWN for the Action Agenda

Overall, past US data indicates 2/3 of the CBD budget is expended at subnational and local levels... But there is not enough data on this!

Demonstrating the effectiveness of multilevel governance and scaling up finance for territorial action would indeed be 2 of RWN's main goals!

It will be critical to develop partnerships for RWN with key land- and seascape initiatives such as the UN-Habitat Urban-Rural Linkages movement, the UN Decade for Restoration, the GEF Integrated Programmes and the CBD Mainstreaming Ad-Hoc-Technical Expert Group! And it can be a great partner for various Multi-Lateral Development Banks concerned about sustainable landscapes and coastal areas
Kobie Brand - ICLEI
01:13:52
Exactly Oliver!! Already doing some of these linkages, but yes, more needs to happen in the months ahead.

Absolutely Oliver - we do have them in our plans
Oliver Hillel
01:15:40
Like CWN, it is important to keep it open to all SNG networks, like Under2Coalition, just as ICLEI reaches out to the entire cities' constituency via CWN. Ready to help!
Oliver Hillel
01:17:24
Land- and seascape governance models and pilot initiatives showcased in RWN can also be useful to corporate and finance partners - it will be the "blending" of resources that will make or break the GBF...

Secretariat of the CBD and UN-Hab are soon publishing a specific issue on biodiversity, written by Thomas Forster and Camilo Romero. And the outcome of the WorldBio2022 event - see - are also relevant to RWN. I think RegionsWithNature is an innovative platform for collaboration in climate change, biodiversity, and SDGs as well as enhancing experience exchange among subnational governmental institutions. In Taiwan, among 18 existing IPSI (International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative) members, two city governments had just joined IPSI and would like to learn and incorporate Satoyama Initiative (biodiversity goal) into their city policy and action plans. One city government (Taoyuan) had already prepared their SDGs VLR (Voluntary Local Review) as the framework for city policy and action plans, and is now working on incorporating the Satoyama Initiative into their SDGs VLR. I hope there will be some opportunities in the future for them to share their experience and learn from good practices around the world.
