Your comments on hope remind me of something Michel Foucault writes, that we ought to pursue a “hyper- and pessimistic activism.” But I have less a question than a comment: Listening to you again today—more than 20 years after I was lucky enough to be one of your students (and I am now a teacher myself)—I am stunned by how deeply your thought and writing has shaped me and the way that I teach and what I try to help students do. So, just a deep thank you for your writing, your teaching, and for your presence in the world. Thank you so much, Scott.

Hearing you and reading your work, Scott, always takes me to a deeply meditative space. I feel like there is possibility to be centered and to gain perspective, even in these tumultuous times.
