What would help us empathize with Jesus and what would it be to give ourselves over to that identity?
Prayer. He prayed constantly with God.
to imagine his disappointments and feeling of failure
Jesus is abandoned and denied by his best friends and yet gives a message of loving those people.
When Jesus was not sure what to do, he often went off to pray. We are often not sure what is the best thing to do.
I think we need to know about the times that were hard for Jesus. We can relate to that and them empathize. And ten the time he healed - as we may have done with children.
Am I ready to give my self over to the role of Jesus?
Mark 10:46-52New Revised Standard VersionThe Healing of Blind Bartimaeus46 They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stood still and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.” 50 So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. 51 Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher,[a] let me see again.” 52 Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.
Recognized Jesus as his saviour
repeatedly asking for mercy
I think it was the fact that he was in front of a large crowd at the time. It was a key period in Jesus's ministry.
reward for Jesus—a demonstration of faith
Reward for Jesus is healing the man, giving him what He needs
kathryn kibbie laird
Jesus sees someone who is an outcast, someone on the periphery, and Jesus stops everything to extend love and healing.
He’s disciplining his colleagues NOT to ignore the guy
People not having empathy for the blind man and Jesus then showing love through his healing
Is the cue that Jesus knew the man’s heart - open and receptive
When cued by enemy behavior,(wrongs you) what is your usual routine?
Jesus asks what is it you want from me - ask what do you hope for…
John Wesley said: Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can. We’re not just busy to be important…
