My grandparents, in Boston, visited Palestine during the pre-state period and brought back Besamin boxes, siddurim, handcrafted jewelry,etc. My parents, in the post-state generation were very strong Zionists and very early.

my 2 uncles came on aliya in 1950 after graduating yeshiva university. my grand parents were on their way in 1955 but sadly my grandfather died in Paris on their way to Israel- always had an Israeli flag outside our home on Yom haatzmaut.
