Who can see your viewing activity?
I have had SHB for the past two years. Not in great numbers but they are present.
Yes they’re definitely here.
Is there a good local source for OA?
Swarm list question. When the swarm text says swarm at 3 feet 6.5 miles away.Where is it measuring the 6.5 miles from? My house? PUB?
Maybe Cully Farm Store or Hive and Garden. I order it online.
Your local hardware store will have OA.
Kevin, is the hardware store 94 or 96 percent OA?
Are there natural predators for the hive beetle that could break their cycle while in the soil? If so, do they have specific pollinator plants to attract the predator?
And yes the swarm location is measured from your house.
According to the Manufacturer's MSDS it is 95-100%:
I don’t know of any predators for the hive beetle larvae.
Oh that’s good to know I can get OA locally. I’ve never looked for it in stores.
Savogran brand is regularly available at any hardware store.
There are nematodes you can purchase that eat hive beetle pupa that are in the ground
Thanks Mandy, that’s great info.
I’m curious to know what efforts you make to mimic the overhead insulation of a bee tree, since most of the insulation in a bee tree is above the colony and the colony thusly benefits from that large amount of overhead insulation.
How do you go about assessing a colony’s mite load to know when treatment is necessary and to assess treatment efficacy?
I am a new beekeeper and I found Dr Ramesh Sagili presentation last month very useful for Varro Mite control. I think it is still available on the PUB website
Have you found any of the comb in your logs with fine layers of propolis?
Thank you Chris
have to run, thanks all!
Fantastic constructions, videos & presentation ALL! Thanks Chis!
