These are a palette of potential exterior building materials. No decisions have been made yet. We are seeking community input on exterior materials.

What a shame that there isn't more green like the front of Walnut Street as it is now... We are loosing the charm of Newtonville with this massive building.

A large gym or large track is so not necessary.. 3 floors too big.

How many passengers does NewMo take the Senior Center?
Gail Gordon

I heard about this meeting from Fred, not the City.

I am wondering if the white exterior in PDF was confusing. I am assuming it won't be all white in color.

How big is your mailing list?
barbara

Its challenging. Study after study show that green space and nature make huge contributions to wellbeing and emotional health. With all the building out to the edges, green space is fast disappearing. It would be great to have in our public spaces. The problem is that it's hard to provide the necessary green space while trying to put too wide a range of activities in a small space.

Can we make a serious attempt to obtain the church property? That property could enable us to minimize the footprint of the current proposal, which is far too big for the site.

Is there a gym and track at t he Needham Senior Center? Or any other Sr. Ctr?
barbara
01:57:39
I'm confused as to why the fitness facility needs to be at the senior center. I am a senior and go to the Y. During the day, at least half the other people there are also seniors. What are we trying to accomplish with a senior center? Is it a place for all activities? Certain types of activities? Sorry if this has been discussed earlier

Yes, great idea to buy the church!!!
barbara
01:59:58
Sounds like buying the church is a good way to address a lot of the space issues we are discussing.
Gail Gordon
02:00:54
Amazing how the developers can find property to buy and develop.

I agree with Peter Harrington's comments and would like to see the building of a scale appropriate to a village rather than a city.
Gail Gordon
02:07:43
You could just renovate the interior of existing building and the church. Do it right I don't care if it is delayed.
barbara
02:08:47
Use one of the "buildings" primarily for green space.

This is Newton. We should be able to fund a reasonably sized senior center. We need a larger site for the programming that is planned. Let’s buy the church property and not compromise programs and design. It is an ideal setup, and we are lucky the option exists.
