Which vehicles were capable of participating in the V2G scenario?
Darren Talbot
40:42
Only those with Chademo connectors
John Norwood

Curious about a charging network scenario for a rural state like Iowa. I see connected farms as well. About half our population is rural and the other half lives in 15 more urban counties...

Utility companies are introducing incentive programs for private and public access around the US. Through these programs government funding is being utilized.

Simon Buckingham
01:15:08
Is this cost effective for a domestic installation, as the addition of batteries to the charger must increase the cost considerably for a single stand-alone charger?
Bart Korteweg
01:15:53
I can't imagine this for domestic purposes. 50kW+ DC chargers cost 35k+ euros. This adds an 80kWh BESS.
Bart Korteweg
01:17:27
The added value of high charging speeds for domestic charging is extremely low. This is an on-route solution with a mitigation for the small grid connections you may encounter in remote and rural areas.
Simon Buckingham
01:17:57
Clear answers Bart. Thanks.
David Veal
01:19:44
is there any progress in charging time and how to make it more convenient
Veronika Moore
01:21:02
would it work for office parking place charging though? the batteries. as the upgrade of the grid would cost more than £35k
Paul Jensen
01:21:19
How do you plan to get the utilities along charging corridors (Autostradas) on board, to upgrade their grid to accommodate the higher loads. What are the lifetime expected from the battery packs before they have to be replaced and do you replace at for example at a reduced capacity of 80%?
Bart Korteweg
01:22:15
There is steady progress on charging speeds. But we're approaching an asymptote where higher charging speeds don't make much sense. The new Lucid Air can add 200 miles of range in 12 minutes. After 200 miles, you probably want that stop and 12 minutes is barely enough for bathroom and a coffee.
Bart Korteweg
01:23:07
There will need to be incentives for utilities to increase their capacities in remote areas. Solutions with battery storage can offer some pause in the meantime.
Bart Korteweg
01:23:46
Typical NMC lithium packs have an expected lifetime of 10+ years but it depends on operating conditions
Miguel Macieira
01:24:08
It is already economically fiasble to associate a battery bank to a fast charger and a photovoltaic central?
Bart Korteweg
01:24:20
newer battery technologies like LTO potentially offer longer lifetimes
Veronika Moore
01:24:40
yes we have an issue of new developments (housing / office) have to EV charge capability for parking spaces but the grip capacity not supporting it

Excellent point Claudio on problems with car battery swapping
Bart Korteweg
01:30:00
Battery swapping makes sense if there's standardization. Since we don't have any for battery packs in current cars, we have a chicken and egg problem where no single OEM is willing or capable to make the necessary investments to make the infrastructure happen.

01:30:04
Great answer Fapanni
Bart Korteweg
01:33:20
Look this is interesting. A BESS can help better monetize self-generated energy, or unlock additional earnings from offering grid stability services through aggregators
Bart Korteweg
01:35:37
Thanks for the follow-up question, that's what I was fishing for with the occupancy rate question.
Bart Korteweg
01:36:48
There is some risk of diminishing returns for this kind of system if occupancy of the station becomes too great. But you want a high occupancy in order to make the earliest ROI. So that's something prospective buyers should look into
John Norwood
01:41:39
Should show Tesla as important point of comparison…
