hartford is a coastal city because it is on a tidal river!
Phil Schmidt
31:52
Can we get all reroofing of homes done with solar photovoltaic shingles instead of asphalt shingles. Could have homes in trees and north facing sides exempted but get a boost in clean electric power and cut down the waste going into landfills.
Bernard Pelletier
32:57
tesla does have a roofing product that is like shingles - expensive but lasts a long long time!
Phil Schmidt
34:11
Other vendors too but they do not have the name nor the 50 year warrantees
Elizabeth Yetman
37:12
Need more bike racks everywhere. Noticing the need for them in Windsor.

Shubhada, you mentioned a microgrid of public buildings that includes a grocery store and gas station that are across the street. I have heard that microgrids have regulatory issues with crossing public rights of way. How did Hartford get this done?
Phil Schmidt
41:39
3 feet tide variation at Hartford

I'm modeling our energy plan off yours!
Phil Schmidt

Colebrook Reservoirs would be great for pumped storage of energy!
Peter Millman
57:55
Could the folks from Branford talk about federal relief funds coming to your town and other CT municipalities? Could some of this money be used for energy efficiency projects, EV infrastructure, etc?
Sam D she/her Sierra Club
58:07
Thank you Jamie and Diana. Great to hear about the Heat Smart Campaign, Energy Plan, Net Zero Animal Shelter and all the progress in Branford!

Zachary Plourde
01:09:44
Bob, Interesting in hearing about how you dealt with the 'grumpy neighbors'
Sam D she/her Sierra Club
01:09:49
Thank you Bob! The Fairfield clean energy story is so inspiring. Together we can do this! Love that.
Nancy Bowden
01:09:59
Comment for consideration: while I recognize and support the importance of local initiatives, I think we also need to think about projects that can be taken on in cooperation with nearby towns and cities. We need to avoid reinforcing the negative side of "local control" among our 169 towns/cities which in turn serves to reinforce the harmful legacies of segregation and redlining.
Eric Weiner
01:10:35
Are there any other municipalities out there using the Portfolio Manager tool?
Mary Hogue
01:13:33
I highly recommend Portfolio Manager - its free and by state statute utilities are required to provide muni bills that are uploadable into the program. It can run all kinds of reports that the amazing Dr Amy Thompson and her team do.
Shubhada Kambli
01:15:18
We use Portfolio Manager; it's integrated into our energy dashboard. Prior to working in Hartford, I worked on ENERGY STAR benchmarking initiatives, so it was definitely a key priority for us!
Sam D she/her Sierra Club
01:16:10
Nancy, great point for discussion. We can benefit by working within our towns as well as well as working together.
Patrice Gillespie
01:16:37
Tomorrow afternoon, 4pm, a mbr of the CT Energy Network — Dwayne Escola — will be making a Zoom presentation at a Special Meeting of the Ridgefield Board of Selectmen to ask that his town implement enough energy efficiency and renewable energy projects so that Ridgefield will Do Its Part and meet the State’s goals of reducing GHG emissions, year by year. Anyone interested in attending, pls contact patricegillespie@mac.com

For Shubhada, on one of your slides a "youth service corps" was mentioned, how was that started and where does it fit into the larger picture with the Climate Action Plan?
Stephen Lewis
01:32:14
How do we slow and stop the continued use of gas in new commercial and residential development in our communities? Have any of the towns here tried to tackle this yet?
Ally
01:33:49
15 minutes left - just FYI!
Phil Schmidt
01:36:21
Could we mandate that home owners put in a battery for power failures instead of gas fired generators. See this a lot in WeHa
Shubhada Kambli
01:37:32
Another example of regional collaboration is the deployment of electric scooters this spring in Hartford. This was the result of a CRCOG regional RFP.
