just to clarify, the "reopening" plan accounts for 10 hours of on campus learning for the rest of the school year?

Daniel Cuevas' mom Cynthia Brinkman here - My concerns and questions: 1. I noticed that there were no parents on this reopening committee - is this true? No Spanish speaking parents, no parents whose skillset or job does not allow for remote work, no parents who can work remotely, but are absolutely burnt out with trying to teach our kids while doing our jobs. How is this plan representing these families?

You mentioned that people who choose not to come back to school will not have to because they have reasons at home as to why they can’t. My question is- For the kids who cannot be at home anymore (distance learning is harming their learning and health) Will they have the choice to go to school full time?
Nico Cuevas
44:57
Secondly, I'm concerned that the only families that can do this current plan may lead to a less diverse student and family population - how has this current plan affected diversity and family retention over the last year?

Jenny

Much gratitude to Jen, the teachers and the staff - you have done SO much work! I understand that no one solution will make everyone happy. Also, I do not want any more work for the teachers. We know so much more about this virus than we did a year ago. Please help me undersand that if the research shows we can safely return to in-person school, our liberal Federal and State governments are wanting us to go back to school why we are only returning for 10 hours?
Rachel Sklar
47:29
Can the kids walk home or to a public location if we’re not available to pick them up at the pick up time?
Azriel Kuyrkendall
47:44
Will this information be available to us offline?
Nico Cuevas
48:21
CA is prioritizing vaccines for teachers. Will the plan change when all the teachers get it?
David K
49:07
Will the kids be monitored to be one at a time in the restrooms so they are not gathered in a closed room without supervision of proper protocols?
Jenn Inverno
52:03
Is there space for parent/caregivers to participate in the pandemic, academic and logistical committees?
Erendira Rodriguez
53:23
are there options/supports in place for staff who cannot return to in-person schooling? Do they have options if they have health risks or family needs?
Chelsea
53:28
Is there any flexibility to this plan given the new push by the state to reopen before the end of March, with financial incentives in place?
Alexis Kollias Thiele
53:29
Just to clarify... Despite the new recommendations that re-opening is allowed in the purple tier, we are maintaining our original start dates for phased in learning hubs?
Nico Cuevas
54:52
And a follow up to the above - specifically even with Tk-6 kids that it has been proven it is safe for them to be on campus?
Kelly Dwyer
57:35
Any consideration to carrying this plan through summer?
Jenny
57:51
I understand why the school wants to keep kids with their teacher. I wonder how many of us that want to be back on campus would be willing to have our children with a different teacher to make this happen.
Nico Cuevas
01:01:03
I agree with the above question and also posit that some of our students are being harmed more by this model than by the possibility of changing teachers.
Alexis Kollias Thiele
01:01:53
This piggybacks on the last question... Might it help to send out another survey to parents? Much has changed regarding the pandemic since our last survey.
Nico Cuevas
01:03:42
another piggyback - and ask specific questions as to our preferences and concerns for students. Like "On a scale of 1-10, how much harm is online learning causing your child?" or "Would you be willing to come back to school full time if it meant changing teachers?"

Hi, sorry I can't figure out how to change my name but this is Stella Ho, mom of the Hew children. This isn't really a question but a comment. I want to make sure that teacher input is a priority and that the re-opening plans align with what they are comfortable with (whether that be teaching new students, returning in person, increased workload in lesson planning, etc.) Teacher retention is so important for our school! Thank you.
Sheryl Balbas
01:04:49
we would love to hear the answer to those questions pls.
Jenn Inverno
01:04:56
In the current plan, students will eventually be in school 1 hour per week. I see value in the social connections, but what are the academic expectations with only one hour together per week?
Will Wurth
01:04:57
We would just like to say thank you to all GO staff for all you've done. This is hard for everyone.
