02:16:15
Okay what people wanted to ask was about the accumulations. The main thing was "do we need to accumulate 100k prostrations BEFORE we do ANY accumulations of mandala, and so on?" also "is it 100k vajra guru mantra, or 12 sets of 100k?"
isaac
02:16:22
then there is a follow up question depending on the answer
isaac
02:18:13
Okay. In that case, while we are accumulating prostrations, let's say we are accumulating 200 prostrations per day and 21 of everything else. Do we count the 21 of everything else as accumulations or not?
isaac
02:20:23
Because there are also some people who can only do 50 prostrations per day, but can do 1 mala of vajrasattva etc. because it's not hard on the body. In that case, they will finish the 100k of everything else halfway into the prostrations, so in this case, none of those accumulations count until the prostrations are done?
isaac
02:20:38
So these people will never finish ngondro in this lifetime according to that system.
Kat (she/they) - Chicago
02:21:01
In CG, we count everything we do. Because it all "counts"
isaac
02:21:43
So the other day, we got instructions that everything counted. Then yesterday, we got instructions that we can do accumulations while doing other stuff, like driving and so on. Now, we are getting different instructions.
isaac
02:24:38
I'm just saying it is confusing for us all.
Dhani
02:24:56
I am not confused
Jason Knisley
02:25:27
well.. I think part of it is that this is also experiential, maybe? like, the purification that comes from 100 syllable is the point more than the number counter, ultimately, right?
Kat (she/they) - Chicago
02:26:17
Lamas often give Doucette
Jason Knisley
02:26:29
but I am also totally confused on what they really want for the purposes of this, so, yeah. :)
Kat (she/they) - Chicago
02:27:00
oops! Lamas often given give different instructions, Isaac. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’— It's okay.
Dhani
02:27:31
Though I don't officially record any practice done while doing anything else, I DO keep a mental eye on increasing my recitations. I note, for example, that now I am waking up and immediately chanting. It is becoming automatic, even in dreams now. THAT to me counts but not ona page
Dhani
02:28:05
Often while walking I will automatically fall into mantra in time with my breath anfd walking pace
Dhani
02:28:41
It's about keeping the practice with me always
Dhani
02:29:40
It counts yet not counted
Dhani
02:31:31
I'm actually making it muscle memory because when I will need it at bardo I'd better have it down! Like a sport
Dhani
02:32:34
I really don't care how long ngondro officially takes - though I have a date. This is a practice for life
Dhani
02:32:42
I will NEVER finish
Dhani
02:33:21
It is very athletic
Dhani
02:33:45
Physically and especially mentally, spiritual.
Dhani
02:33:59
I have it times for 3.5 years and am steadily keeping it
Dhani
02:34:16
consistently every day
Dhani
02:34:20
