Learning my way around the Zoom interpretation feature in real time. Did you see the prompt to select a language when you logged in?
Elliott Balch, CVCF

It seems that when I'm screen-sharing, I do not have the ability to manage the tool. Which is odd. So hopefully having started it already, it's good.

Are the steroids reducing the hospitalized or is this result of respirator treatments?
Thomas Ruiz
47:32
As noted last week, Los Angeles County has nearly more cases than the next 4 counties combined.
Thomas Ruiz
48:55
How many ICU beds are available in Fresno? Fresno County?
Thomas Ruiz
49:24
Very informative.
Thomas Ruiz
50:08
Are there 78 available beds? 65 + 13 available?
Thomas Ruiz
50:40
Are 65 beds in ICU with Covid patients of the total ICU beds?
Carol Davies
50:44
Our senior volunteers been busy making beautiful cloth masks. Let us know if you need any. smartinez@handsoncentralcal.org. Nice to provide to volunteers who are supporting your work, share with clients, etc.
Ashley Swearengin, CVCF
52:52
@Hannah - that is what is concerning to me. Hearing things like we had 2 ICU beds in the entire county at one point.
Hannah McAbee
53:33
Something to consider, our local hospitals have created new ICU and opened up further beds in other units for ICU conditions so those 13 available ICU beds include the new units as well. Last week, at one point, there were 2 ICU beds available in the county.
Courtney Shapiro
53:44
Is the 13 bed number a reflection of covid ICU beds or all available ICU beds?
Thomas Ruiz
54:01
I believe they are relating that 65 people in ICU beds have Covid. I believe there are other ICU beds and the individuals in them have other conditions. That there are 13 beds available in the county? city? is concerning.
Hannah McAbee
54:02
total.
Bre Yamaoka
54:04
Is there guidance available that two negative tests is not necessary to return to work? Hearing that several employers are requiring multiple tests before allowing employees to go back to work, but employees not able to access tests
Thomas Ruiz
54:44
When will we have more testing sites? testing is 10 days out at present to register for an appointment.
Courtney Shapiro
54:47
Is it still taking over a week for results?
Ashley Swearengin, CVCF
56:20
From Pete Weber: The DRIVE Upskilling Team has teamed with Futuro Health to offer tuition-free upskilling opportunities in allied health care. Offerings include a Telehealth certificate, Covid-readyness certificates, and English skills for Spanish speaking health care workers.
Hannah McAbee
56:38
@Bre, I believe it is included in the recently released Employer Playbook from the state. Here: https://files.covid19.ca.gov/pdf/employer-playbook-for-safe-reopening--en.pdf
Brooke Frost
56:46
Hugo, the Mendota testing on August 5 has only online sign-ups. https://www.projectbaseline.com/study/covid-19/
Kathy Mahan
57:41
Can anyone go to these sites to get tested? Is the new state prioritization plan being used to determine who gets tested?
Ashley Swearengin, CVCF
57:42
From Cindy Jurado: Is there a place where employees can go to find out their rights in connect with covid? I had a text from a community member whose employer stated he did not have to disclose if one of their employees tested positive. They had an employee out for 2 wks that had tested positive and had been in clients home and interacting with the other employees.
Susana Rodriguez
57:53
I have a friend in Madera that was told she had to Mariposa for testing because testing was not available there or in Fresno. I am concerned our public is not getting the right information. What do you recommend?
Judy Cortez-Garcia
58:49
Is there a contact person for the UCSF mobile testing program?
Thomas Ruiz
01:00:09
@Susanna Rodriguez: Call the Rite Aids on the list and sign up as soon as you can with the link for testing at Fresno City College.
Bre Yamaoka
01:00:23
@Hannah, thank you!
Shantay Davies-Balch

Frances Reyes Acosta
01:00:56
What's happening for farmworkers Housing, once diagnosed?
Thomas Ruiz
01:01:37
What about basic care provisions to the farm workers for hand sanitizers, information on the availability of medical services, updates that medical care and assistance do not result in notification of ICE or Immigration personnel.
Nora Ceballos

01:01:59
Are there any requirements for people traveling out of the state by plane, like getting COVID tested and quarantined themselves?
Susana Rodriguez
01:02:07
@Thomas Ruiz I will mention to my friend this information. When my friend shared what she was told, I knew this was not right. I will let her know ASAP. Thank you.
Nora Ceballos
01:02:35
Do you have the videos in other languages?
Judy Cortez-Garcia
01:02:40
@Shantay - I work at a facility in which could benefit in having a mobile testing program come on site.
Brooke Frost
01:03:13
From Hugo: Radio Bilingue tried to report to the county of a positive case health department; we were told by the Health Department that we did not need to report it and that there is no form by the Fresno Health department for that.
Shantay Davies-Balch
01:03:50
That’s great! Please email me at Shantay@Black-Enterprises.com. Then I’ll copy in the entire team. Thanks
Thomas Ruiz
01:04:29
Any more information on what our legislatures are doing to provide resources for providers to venture into rural neighborhoods to provide tests and hand sanitizers and disinfectants?
Brooke Frost
01:05:04
From Hugo Morales: How can the county do contact tracing if the Fresno Health Department is not registering the workplaces where at least one employee tested positive?
Thomas Ruiz
01:05:24
Addressing the epicenter of the cases will effectively reduce the spread of the virus.

Farmworkers are part of the economic cycle. No restaurants thus no consumption of food from these sources. People have to buy their own food and prepare. Some takeout but the majority of restaurants don't purchase on the level they did before Covid 19, thus the farmers cant sell and thus they cant hire farm workers.
Ashley Swearengin, CVCF

This is why the virus is overwhelming in Hispanic communities as no resources for providing for their families. Need to work and pay bills, so have to work. Even when you work for such low wages.
Sandra Celedon
01:20:23
since more people are unemployed, farmers are paying less for their work
Sandra Celedon
01:20:37
driving poor people further into poverty
Thomas Ruiz
01:20:45
Yes.
Jasmin Delgado
01:22:02
continuing to pay farmworkers a piece rate does not come close to an hourly minimum wage. This is not a living wage it is exploitation of human labor
Kathy Harriss
01:22:56
yes, less than $10/hour if by the piece
Thomas Ruiz
01:23:08
I don't know if all farmers are gravely impacted. Some have had to lose their crop due to no demand. However, others appear to have not. Prices at the store have risen noticeably. I cannot believe what I am paying for some produce. Perhaps we need to give out seeds to families to help supplement their foodstuffs.
Nora Ceballos
01:23:23
Gracias Margarita por ser la voz de los trabajadores en el campo. Por compartir tu experiencia e informarnos por lo que están pasando muchos de ustedes y hablar de sus experiencias y necesidades.

01:23:56
Who are the trusted messengers working with our farmworker community?
Thomas Ruiz
01:24:30
These indigenous communities are the epicenter of the virus and we need to address them in their own communities.
Thomas Ruiz
01:25:21
All Hispanic, including indigenous.
Thomas Ruiz
