Emily Sexton

Dawn Smith (she/her)
04:20

Carol Burns
05:38
Julie, are you dancing??? 😁
Lisa Smith
05:41
Ah! This was our summer song two years ago!
Emily Sexton
05:44
I recently purchased Jot It Down to use with my 7 and 8 year old. Older (girl) is massively creative but a perfectionist and reluctant to write on her own. I’m excited to see what we will unleash this year!
Jeanne Faulconer (she/her)
05:48
You know she is, Carol!
Cindy Clark
05:53
I am!! I like this song.
Jeanne Faulconer (she/her)
06:12
Oh, Emily, you’ll have to share with us how it goes
Nadia Mendenhall
06:15

11:05
That’s me! Two teens still homeschooling!
Bethanie Eicholtz
11:17
Just a note for the Brave Writer team... I have only been able to access two of the webinars today. It seems that if I tried to log on any time after the start time, Zoom would tell me that “the host has another meeting in progress,” and I was unable to access the current webinar. I don’t know if that was just me, but I wanted to let the team know I was running into a problem with Zoom.
Lilliana Konjer
11:22

I totally feel like this is why adults can’t focus on one thing at a time for any length of time. We’ve all been programmed how to turn on and off learning from the schedules and disturbing bells!
Jessica Cuthbertson
20:43
Ick - thankfully the best schools/educators are embracing more student-centered practices…but is luck of the draw...

my son likes to get up immediately after reading/watching to build something that corresponds with the material... to process! and run around the first floor while I'm reading...then he comes and goes while maintaining a conversation about the details of the book...never misses a beat.

Such beautiful content being presented here. We’ve been doing Brave Writer since my oldest was 8 and we’ve never looked back. This stuff works. He just took his ACT and did great and what was the highest score reading and Language Arts. No formal grammar or spelling curriculum just diving into to good literature and using the Arrow and Boomerangs. Can’t wait to dive into the sling shots this Fall.
Leslie Banks

I remember Stephanie (coach) telling me it was great that I took my son's dream seriously....he wants to fly our house to paradise falls (like in Pixar's Up)... we've had so many great activities/learning opportunities and connection because of it.
Nadia Mendenhall

The investment into that relationship started when they were young and we followed their passions.
Emelia Stark
53:44
yay... laying the foundation now, hoping they continue to share and we keep this connection into older years!
Dawn Smith (she/her)
54:22
Yes!
Emelia Stark
56:16
and Ramona (coach) also advised it's okay for the activities to be symbolic/simpler rather than literal...many ways to achieve the investment in their interest.

Carol Burns

We just had our book party for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe! We had a lovely British tea 😍, and made Turkish Delight 🤢, and it was sooo much fun!
Kirsten Merryman (she/her)
01:01:46
Jesse, The Writer’s Jungle helps you start healing that relationship with writing, to get at the WHY of the writing struggle and provide support to overcome it!
Emelia Stark
01:01:54
I notice that my husband will try to literally make something my son asks for...like a complicated Lego build, but my son will get frustrated...if I just sit by him and ask about his idea... collaborate with tricky fits/finding pieces ..my son has more fulfillment and it's less complicated of a build than I anticipated.
Dawn Smith (she/her)
01:02:01
