I’m using how many races, regardless of party affiliation, were not contested.

Competitiveness = politicians having to answer to their constituents.

can arguing for competitiveness be seen as being partisan when testifying?

How do we respond to constituents who are just fine with their district? "We have been voting at the local school for years. Don't want to change."

I don't believe so. In Ohio, we've been fighting gerrymandering through both democrat and republican map drawing power - 40 + years!

Any suggestions on how to persuade a legislature committee to use an at least an advisory citizens’ redistricting commission? We are in the somewhat difficult position of asking the legislature to share or surrender their power to redistrict. How can we avoid being accusatory?

I was late getting to this because of a conflicting League meeting. Do you have computers and mapping programs available when you try to engage people in playing with maps?

I’m not authorized to speak as a LWV lobbyist - can I still mention I’m a member as part of my affiliation similar to if I wanted to mention that I’m a member of an homeowners association?

Do you find that there are different strategies when approaching a statewide commission vs local municipalities?

What about the rural vs urban redistricting argument? Rural think they already have too little voice and say they are worried about being split up?

Good software for public engagement: Dave's Redistricting App and Districtr on the web, QGIS on a computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) with redistricting plugins.
