Rabbinic Search - Interviewing and Hiring Virtually - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
Hi Mindy! Things are going well (I think). We have settled on two candidates to bring in - one is a rabbinic couple
What is the JPC position on recording Shabbat zoom interview visits>?
Will these slides be made available after the call? may have missed that.
we will share all the slides afterwards
all slides and materials and recording will be sent with a day
Were there many hires done via zoom this past spring? Is there much in the way of feedback as to how these interviews have translated to the resulting fit?
We held a webinar during the summer about those experiences and can send you the link. There were several hires, but the majority were hired before the pandemic hit North America
Ellen the JPC does not have a position on recording on Shabbat. Your congregation's rabbi will need to make a determination according to guidelines from the RA's committee on laws and standards
sure, whatever it is, is fine
do you have a copy of the skills priority guide
Your synagogue consultant can get it to you
she can also facilitate a workshop if you'd like one
If you stick to a script of questions, doesn’t that impede the flow of natural conversation? And what if you want to tailor questions to the candidate’s resume and specific experience?
given the JPC position, are candidates permitted to visit the community on their own? To look for housing, etc?
Should the initial conversation be with the entire committee or just the chair/co-chairs and another member?
thanks for all these helpful details. These are important whether we use virtual or in person interviews.
Do you have a timeline for the process. How many months before the contract is up
Jennifer Stofman (she-her)
your synagogue consultants are your partners in this process!
Your synagogue consultant can walk through a timeline with youit's going to depend on how far in advance you're starting
Thank you. This was helpful and enlightening.
informative. Intimidating! Thank you
